Did that help? Sonia, I can relate to what you are dealing with. I too suffer from depression and anxiety, mainly since the cancer started. I had my days/weeks though even before that. You have come a very long way in your fight, you are coming up on 3/4 of your way through this, you will only have 2 more treatments to go. That is quite a milestone my friend! One thing that stinks about the meds is that you (or me) want them to kick in pronto and they too often take time. Try doing some relaxation techniques like breathing deeply and also do things that you enjoy whether it's gardening, reading, seeing a good movie or taking a walk. Distraction is a key element I think. If you're thinking about other things and having as good of a time as you can, it takes away from the anxiety part. I know that it can be hard to get one's a$$ out there to do it but you will find you'll feel better after you do it. Also, you really can't do anything until Monday so maybe watching your stools is not the best thing to do although it's probably more interesting than half of what's on TV.

I don't know you well enough yet to banter like Phil, however I do know that you show yourself to be thoughtful, warm, generous and resilient and I know you'll pull through this just fine. It's an awful lot for anyone to deal with, but fortunately you're not in it alone. I'll be sending good thoughts your way and wishing you strength and tenacity. If I lived closer I'd come over to be there the day of the last chemo session and have a party. Two more to go! That's huge!!

Hi Soniia, I know the feeling that you are having. My next chemo threatment is this Wed and I'm already getting upset about it. Let's just do one day at a time. If I can get through TODAY I'll be okay. When that gets too hard lets say .."Okay I just need to get through this hour" Also get out and do something. It sure seems to help me.
These bad day will come and go. We just need to find a way to get through them

...I also get those panic attacks and those depressive moods, but I learn to snap out of that mode real quick, remember, like Uncie Phil said, DISTRACTION IS KEY!!! clean, go shopping, read, take a walk, take deep breaths, focus on the positive, or you just sicken yourself with worry, it's alot better then watching stools, don't panic, just be calm and know we are all here with you going through the same thing, and you're going to be alright! But, you need to realize I bet you worry your hubby acting like that, and you don't want to scare him or make him feel bad too, you want to be strong and let everyone know you are going to fight this with everything you have, don't let the darkness take over you, you're too good for that, FOCUS on something else, and just remember you are a beautiful caring person and we all love you, and I wish I was there to just put my arms around you and give you a big ole hug!!

I am just going to echo the other great folks and their thoughts and ideas.
First, one day, one hour, one step at a time. Break it down into bite size parts.
Second, distraction. I also think of this as just giving my mind a bit of a vacation so it can rest and relax. If you are able to throw your mind off of track for even 15 mins every hour- well that adds up.
Third, when the creepy thoughts are taking over, say outloud to yourself, "nope, not going to do this right now, maybe later, but not right now".
Fourth- movement, exercise of any kind. For me during the worse of chemo, it meant going up and down the stairs several times a day. Not a big deal, but it was for me! I would do it and say out loud, I DID IT I DID IT. Even taking a walk, grocery shopping-
Fifth- fresh air and sunshine. I would have one of my kids take a blanket outside for me and there I would be. We would also do these mini trips- in the car- the window down, sunshine on my arms and face. Never actually went anywhere.0 -

thank you for replying to my post l will be thinking about you on wed when you have your chemo l know you will get through it fine.lt just gets to you the more sessions you have the more you worry but as you said take each day as it comes and l do try just my stupid anxiety problem takes over but l am glad l have my second family to come to ie you and everyone else on here helps me alot hugs to you0 -

you & lisa are like my big sisters on here and l love you both.needed your wise words thats why whenever l know my anxiety is working over time l come here to my family and also know big sis donna will be around & uncle phil to set me straight.l took everyones advice instead of stool watch lol sounds like a programme in itself l distracted myself deep breathing went on ebay argued with hubby will pm you later about that and have been watching comedies. l know we are going through the same things & lt helps to be reminded plus getting a kick up the back site to boot doesnt hurt either.as brooks says need to just get through the day and lve done that just sunday to go.anyway sending a big ole hug your way thank you for always being here for me same goes for everyone love &hugs0 -

Just getting out of the house is the best thing, like Patteee said, once I'm out doing something, I feel so much better, it gets depressing sitting in your house all day, you need to just get out, and I'm sure we'll talk more about this later

Seriously, the best way for me to get out of a funk is to go out and walk like crazy. I put my head back and smell the air and think about how blessed I am to be alive, and it always helps.

Hi Sonia,
Me too, I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks prior to my cancer. Been trying to deal with it also, I try to make sure that I get out of bed and change my clothes right away, I've been cleaning a lot to keep busy when I'm at home and yes sitting outside makes a load of difference too. People keep offering to pick me up to go out and I get so worried that I may have one of those attacks I decline. I met a friend last night at the mall, had a great time. Yup, distraction is key, and sometimes its hard to do but keep trying you are almost there.
As fpr me I'm going to start all over again, and I am not looking forward to it. I may have to drug myself just to get the chemo!

Not sure of that. I don't have the experience of depression and anxiety. It sounds horrible, especially on top of cancer!
You are doing so well. Monday is 6 of 8. Only two left after Monday. This will soon be behind you Sonia and you will have all your life ahead of you.
