Mom's surgery postponed ..she didn't pass her stress test..

Has that ever happened to anyone else? They didn't tell her what that means, just that her heart looked like there might be a blockage, and thye want her to see a cardiologist. That's really bad news isn't it? If she can't have surgery she's in big trouble isn't she? God, this disease is so nasty. Just when you think things are ok, something new comes along.

By the way, I am doing pretty well a week after my surgery. I went into work today and actually felt good. I got a little tired in the afternoon, but can't sleep tonight. Probably worried about my mother. I know she's in God's hands but I don't understand why God wants to make this so hard for her. She was so discouraged tonight.

    Lisa,,,I had the same incident happen to me. My first surgery had to be postponed because the anesthesiologist would not sign off to do it because there was a "blip" on my EKG he didn't like.(I mean-I was THERE...prepped for surgery, waiting to go!!) So I had to go to a cardio & have a stress test & EKG. He determined all the risk factors with my results & deemed my risk was very low for complications-Thank God.I had my surgery 10 days later. However it was all unnerving...I thought God was conspiring against me also & I would never have surgery!! Hang in there honey...its better they check things out so as not to put her in more risk. Will keep you all in prayers....Beth

    Well, that is disappointing news for us all. I didn't have a stress test before surgery, but have always had an abnormal EKG. If the chemo is shrinking the tumors, then they may give another course of that and shrink them more.

    I don't think that God makes this disease hard on any of us, but He does give us grace and comfort when life's disappointments happen. We, who are in Stage IV know that we will never be cured deep down in our hearts. The trick is to accept this and move on day by day not counting the days.

    This is my first comment, but I just had to say, Saundra, I gather such comfort from your posts. I'm 3C, just past my first scans (NED) since chemo. I've been told I'll never be cured, and I know that, but your note to accept it and move on day by day not counting the days hit me right where I needed to be hit. I need to stop counting the days. Thank you.

    I'm also waiting to hear from Hissy to see how her surgey went. I pray it went well. I know after my surgery the last thing I did was look at my computer for a few weeks.

    Your posts are always so helpful and supportive. you have great wisdom about all this..I think you are right, deep down in her heart my mother knows she is very sick, but she at least wants the chance to fight. I just hate to see her so pained.....She's been valiant through this so far, and it's so hard to watch her cry with disappointment and fear...Your responses mean so much though and thanks

    I could not agree with you more...Saundra is the best..I have a dream that some day I want to meet her in person and some of the other wonderful women on this board...

    This is helpful..I am trying to keep perspective...I am sure this is more common that I think, but the doctor who told my mother couldn't giver her any information at all. I think it was this that really got her. We can all deal with things but help us understand what they mean. Thanks so much though and I will keep you posted..I hope your surgery cleaned you out....

    Lisa, was it a stress test that she had or just an EKG? I know it's not uncommon at all for EKGs to show something out-of-the-ordinary which upon further investigation turns out to be nothing or at least not worth losing sleep over. I'm hoping that will be the case for your mom! And I have to tell you how much you rock! The support and dedication you show for your mom, even while going through your own crisis and surgery, amazes me. What an incredible bond the two of you must share.

    And I have to echo the sentiments of others who have commented on what a blessing Saundra is to this board. She has that rare gift for telling it like it is while still comforting you. And more than once something she's said has helped me gain perspective during the tumultuous first month of my Adventures in Ovarian Cancer (Coming soon to a theater near you!). Thank you Saundra!

    Mom didn't pass her stress test
    Hi Lisa,

    Hopefully you know more by now (Nov. 2). I know it might be hard; but try and consider it
    a blessing to know the information. Years ago, my Dad failed his stress test and they didn't make it clear to us what that meant, nor, apparently, did the hospital report it to his doctor. Literally, years went by. He then had a heart attack and had to have triple bypass surgery.

    Pursue it vigorously.

    You, your Mom and family will be in my prayers.
