Happy Thanksgiving, Tasha!! I'd stay and chat but I gotta go, you made me so hungry (LOL) Really, it sounds like quite the feast.

Happy Turkey Day, Tasha!
Happy Turkey Day, Tasha! Here in the US of A~ it's Columbus Day, a day many Native Americans protest as the beginning of the decimation of indiginous people by European "visitors"! LOL And Thanksgiving? My Reggie laughingly and good naturedly calls it Thanks-TAKING day for much the same reason! Yes, we do the whole turkey dinner and have a wonderful calorie laden feast with friends and family, but my table decorations are 2 rag-doll Pilgims ( man and wife) run through with arrows! I figure, if this White Woman is cooking for a passel of Native Americans, along with the food and football, Chen is gonna make 'em laugh!

Can't really blame Reggie for feeling that waychenheart said:Happy Turkey Day, Tasha!

I'd probably feel the same if I were Native American. I remember back in college when one of my instructors, also a Native American, observed "Columbus didn't discover anything. We always knew we were here!"0 -

And, it seems to me, men have always been "directionally challenged"~ first Moses wandered the desert for 40 YEARS (what? he couldn't have asked someone?) and then Senor Columbus kinda made a wrong turn on his westward trip to buy spices in China and India! Sheesh, Mrs. Columbus must have wondered what was taking him so damned long to pick up a few groceries for the pasta!
On the other hand, when I once naively asked Reggie what the indiginous ppl were called before they were mis-named INDIANS...well, turns out there was no national name of course! This wasn't a nation, but hundreds of nations, each family with its own name.

the wacky Portuguese adventurers who set off for India and wound up "discovering" Brazil!
That said, though, the two most "directionally challenged" people I have ever met in my life are both female: one, my very own beloved Moopster; and two, her big sister Jackie.0 -

I am trying to hold myself back but I feel like I need to say this anyways!! How come you guys get lost sometimes-need us to go get directions when you finally give up because you finally realize you are lost-and love those gps'es? Huh?lol !!0 -

I will simply say that obviously the Moopster and her sister are in touch with their masculine sides as far as directions are concerned! Me too, actually~ please don't tell me to look for something on the North side of the street; just tell me its on the side next to the big tree across from that park! Just this morning , after hearing our county is in a flash flood warning, I had to ask Reggie where our South-facing mountains are! I'm dooooomed, I tell you, I'm doooomed! LOL

Claudia, I am the same way. South facing mountains? I would have to consult google on that one. This is why I am pretty useless when it comes to navigating. If it were up to me, we would have gotten lost about 10 times on a marked trail on our camping trip this weekend.

For sure, Reggie is right. I guess for me, Thanksgiving is just a way to celebrate family, friends, and our good fortune. It's funny the things we celebrate without really thinking about their origins. I commend Reggie for having a healthy attitude about it all, though.0 -
Great Meal... and thanks allmimivac said:Well, happy Turkey day to you!
And that meal sounds fantastic. Are you aware that many of those foods are top cancer fighters, too?. So, all your feasting was actually good for you!
Hey I get the best of both worlds, both thanksgivings, 2 different mothers' days. And any other excuse for a good nosebag!
Reggie... sorry, us 'Limeys' always were trying to take over the world LOL. (I promise not to do it anymore) Claudia, better make that a really good thanks-talking meal. Hugs Jxxxxxxxxxx0 -
