Dear lupi1314,
The easiest way to locate other CSN members with similar experiences is to type keywords (such as "Torisel," "advanced renal cell cancer," "Torisel side effects," etc.) on the search bar at the top of the home page. You can refine your search by clicking on the “Advance search” link listed underneath the search field. The major categories of content on CSN are blogs, discussion boards, “About Me” pages, etc. For example, if you are looking for a specific resource on the Resource Library, you can limit your search to resources only by clicking on the "resource" and "advanced search" button at the bottom of the "advanced search" box. Remember that you must be logged on if you want to post anything on a discussion boards, view personal pages, use the chat room, etc.
Cordially,
Your CSN Staff0 -
I'm There
I have been on Toricel since Jan 2008.
It was the first thing that actually shrunk my
tumors. My side effects - fatigue, diabetes, swelling, and mild rash.
I had to miss this week becuase a stomach virus really screwed up
my blood pressure, blood sugars, and kidney related labs, but should
be back on track.0 -
Torisel
Hi ~ I have stage IV non-clear RCC. I started a weekly I.V. of Torisel in March, and I've had one CT since I started the drug. My Dr said the Torisel is 'doing it's job' in that the cancer has not moved or spread...I'm still 'running around' on all days but the one that I get the Torisel, doing errands, having lunch with friends, etc, and usually lie down later in the day - sometimes take a nap ... I hope your dad feels ok - what stage is he in?0 -

Hi All,
My father (73) was diagnosed over one year ago, had two surgeries (removal of 1 kidney over 1 year ago and recently an operation to remove 3 more lumps in other spots), and the doctor says it's still a Stage 1 type cancer.
He's been on Torisel for a few weeks to slow down growth of new tumors and I'm trying to find out whether there are any statistics out there for remission rates on stage 1 (potentially stage 2) kidney cancer. I've tried to search online but, so far, I've only found rather general notes on treatment of Stage IV.
Is there anyone out there with Stage I that was treated with Torisel? Many thanks. Regards.0 -

Hi~ I had to have my kidney removed..the mass was moved into my vein. Now I'm doing the treatments {Torisel}, Once a week.. What side effect did you have?? Did you lose your hair?? Mine is falling out slowly and I get the sores on my head. And the mouth sores. I to take naps on the day of the treatments. This is all so new to me and my family. I just don't know what to do...0 -

tictic!, for mouth sores see if your dr. will prescribe Miracle Mouth Rinse. That helped my husband. Also use non-alcoholic mouth wash and toothpaste; both are over the counter and can be found in most stores. If the sores aren't severe, you might try a rinse of glutamine powder and water (natural health food stores carry the powder), but for more severe sores the first two are much better.0 -

My husband had a great report at the end of April after four months on Torisel. 50% reduction in the lymph nodes in his chest and only one nodule left in his lungs. Then about the beginning of July we found a lump on his back. They confirmed that the cancer is spreading rapidly and he's getting subcutaneous lumps. He's been on Afinitor for 44 days. He's still getting lumps.
Sorry. I didn't mean to post that. I'm fuzzy today. Sinus infection.0
