endometrial cancer

I was just diagnosed with stage 1 well-moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. My doctor says I have an excellent prognosis for a surgical cure. I am still in shock about joining the "C" club. This is something I never thought would happen to me. I was always worried about breast cancer. I just turned 50 a few weeks ago. I would just like alittle feedback if you will. Thanks

Hi Ivy,
In 2002, at the age of 49, I was diagnosed with Stage 1b, grade 2 endometrial cancer. Here I am, almost 4 years later, still cancer free and feeling great! Your doctor is right, you do have a great change for a surgical cure. I had a complete hysterectomy, then as a precaution my doctor recommended pelvic radiation, which I did for 5 weeks. It does take a while for the shock of the big "C" to wear off, but it gradually does and life after cancer can be better than ever! Good luck to you, you will do just fine!

I was dx at 48 with uterine cancer that was staged at 1b, which led to the discovery of stage 1c ovarian cancer - my "two-fer-one" deal of a lifetime (I hope, hope, hope)! I'm still very concerned about breast cancer, especially after finding out a number of family member have had it, but know that I will have to be diligent about watching for it. I had chemo because of the OVCA, but there's hardly a reference made to the uterine cancer when I'm talking to my chemo doctor. I remind him that I had the other cancer!
I've been clear for more than 3 years now, but the morning my ob/gyn told me cancer cells were found in the uterine biopsy very clearly.
You might want to find a support group in your area to talk with, if you have fear of the cancer returning. I found myself getting weepy any time I tried to talk with anyone about my fear until I started going to support meetings, and now I'm comfortable with it. I've also met enough long-time survivors to know what people can live long after being diagnosed if it's found at an early stage!0 -
Hi Ivy, I was diagnosed in '94 with endometrial cancer. I had a total hysterectomy. I have had no return of it. Because of past cancer, I have been very diligent about mammograms. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Since it was found so very early, I had surgery and no node involvement. Consequently, no treatment needed. Hang in there, dear, and find someone to talk with. Try the chat rooms here on ACS web site. God bless you. clbaron0
