Radio show opportunity to talk about cancer

Hello my beloved online cancer community!

I have the opportunity to talk tomorrow morning-probably very briefly-about the patient's perspective on cancer treatment as a guest of my oncology clinic and the local radio station. I have my opinions, but I also remember that right beside me all my cancer community and support when speaking of cancer. So if you would like to hear one sentence come out of the radio about what's important to you about cancer treatment/care/support/etc, what would you like to hear?

    It is not mine but I liked this when I read it:
    "I know what it’s like to be given a cancer diagnosis. Life as you know it stands still, and is never again the same. I am an advocate for early detection."

    How wonderful - being given the opportunity to promote CRC awareness and share your special message. Thanks for doing your part to spread the word!

    My husband Bob and I have had two opportunities to film video segments to tell our survivor stories and to share our messages of CRC awareness, cancer patient advocacy, and most important, HOPE! One video is shown in doctors' offices and hospitals, and the other was for Olympus.

    I think Lizzy made a good point in promoting early detection - this was a point Bob and I made in our videos...encourage people to get colonoscopies. And both of us think it's important to share our positive experiences in getting support, like here at CSN, and that even though cancer is a horrible and scary diagnosis, it's important to live life in spite of it. There is that saying...I have cancer, but cancer does not have me.

    And lastly, I do like Colon Cancer Alliance's line...Colorectal Cancer - Preventable, Treatable, Beatable.

    Hello all

    Well it went well, though I don't remember exactly what I said. My whole office was listening in at work and they all thought it was great. That brought tears to my eyes. The radio announcer, who can be a curmudgeon, thanked me for adding a lot to the coffee hour show. I got to use some phrases that you sent me-thanks so much!!!, talked about team support-medical, family friends, support groups, resources. The "cancer doesn't define me, but the way I live and fight cancer defines me" was a hit- thanks Craig!

    You are so welcome and thanks for using that line - it's my favorite.

    I told it to a social worker at the hospital a few weeks ago, when I asked her about being a guest speaker there for newly diagnosed cancer patients - her eyes welled up with tears and mine did too - told her I had a million of 'em :)

    You made my day today and I needed it - thank you so much, Leslie. Just when I thought I was yesterday's news...you have renewed my spirit.

    Just knowing that you used that tag line means everything to me!

    And thanks so much for doing a great job on the radio show - you're a star!
