I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in November 22, 2004, and hand my right testicle removed. I was diagnosed as stage II and I have been receiving chemo treatments for the past three months. I have one more cycle to go and I was wondering how long it took to get back to "normal"? It seems that I have been very tired lately, and I do not know if that is because I am almost done with my chemo or if I am experiencing something out of the norm. What has everyone else experienced? How long does it take to get to feeling normal again, physically?
Thanks,
Jeff

    Hey Jeff,
You are not feeling any thing out of the norm. I finished four cycles of BEP due to Testicular Cancer in Jan 2002 and it took about three or four months for my red blood cells to get within normal limits and then I started to feel better. I was really worn out and had no appetite during the 3rd and 4th cycles, it just took time for my body to recooperate after the chemo. The biggest problem I had the point you are at now is nausia, I don't know if you have it but if you do I would suggest drinking alot of fluids to keep your body hydrated, it help me feel a little better. Hope everything goes well during your last cycle, Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi. I have a friend that was just diagnosed with testicular cancer about 3 weeks ago. I guess the reason I am here is because I am trying to understand it more. We have only known eachother for a month now and 2 1/2 weeks into this relationship he found this out. I want to help him in anyway I can and told him this but he is the type of person that shuts people out deals with things alone. He also told me that he didn't know if he would do any type of treatment, that he may do nothing at all, he is only 27 years old. I haven't talked to him in 2 weeks, he told me he just needed time to decide what to do without any influence from anyone, I understand this. He also told me that he was not going to tell any of his family or friends. I just want to help him. I pray everyday for him and wait. Any advice, comments, anything to help me understand more and be able to help him?

Chloe, have you heard more from your friend? If his cancer was caught at stage I, he actually may not need any additional treatment, just strict follow-up. In any case, testicular cancer is nearly always cured.

First off, let me say that
First off, let me say that I'm sorry you were diagnosed with testicular cancer. I am happy to hear that you caught it before it moved to a later stage. I think that the recovery time depends on the person. I am however, wondering the same thing as you. It might be comforting to hear everyone's recovery length. I am curious to hear how long it took/takes you to feeling back to normal.
