and we are still reeling from the news. The doctor said it was Hepatocellular carcinoma. The tumor on her liver is about 5 inches.
I'm so frustrated because she had the liver biopsy on Thursday, but didn't get a diagnosis till Tuesday and now we have to wait a week and a half to get her in to see a surgical oncologist in N.C. The oncologist here told her doctor that he would see her but she really needed to see a surgical oncologist.
We have so little information. We don't get it. She's never drank or smoked, we have no family history and she doesn't have hep B or C.
Do you all have any advice on how to stay strong and help her make the decisions she needs to make? I'm a journalist so I've been researching the doctors she's been referred to but that's all I really know how to do. Neither me nor my brothers live in town.

Keep your spirit up for her!
Calm your spirit, relax, and breathe. Pray for her and for others going through similar circumstances.
I have no history of cancer in my family and I'm the one who never smoked, drank, drugs, etc. But that didn't stop the breast cancer from forming (in 2007) and spreading to my liver (in 2009). I have several "lesions" in my liver and surgery has been ruled out for me... unless the chemo shrinks them. I’m here in Houston (MD Anderson) and I received the bad news from the doctor… my fight will begin again when I go back home to Colorado Springs. My doctor said I will have to be on chemo for the rest of my life. I am rejecting that and depending on the Power of the Living Lord and Savior to heal me. Whatever happens, I still give God the praise!
Getting answers when you want/need them may not come at that time. All of us cancer patients have had to be just that "patient"… when getting answers from the doctor. However, I know a doctor who will give your mom all the answers she needs. Just get "down and dirty" with the Lord and He will give her what she needs to get through each day.
And understand, above all who has the final say in matters of life and healing!!!! Make sure you surround her with positive and organic people and foods. Go raw if she can tolerate it on veggies and fruit. Visit www.healingcancernaturally.com for more encouragement and advice. I eat more raw, very little "white" sugar, buy organic foods, 100% juice, and try to exercise regularly. Find out what "she" needs to equip her body for surgery, chemo, radiation, or whatever she has ahead of her. And remember, a doctor can only give you an educated guess about her prognosis. There are many people still standing after doctors have said there's nothing they can do.
Try not to spend a lot of your time researching the doctors, trust in the Lord to send her where she needs to go. Spend your time finding people who can help her (in any way) and solicit their support. Everybody's fight with cancer is different and a prognosis is totally non-transferable.
I'm praying for you and your mom.... Ellen Elaine0
