For their study, H. Gilbert Welch, M.D., MPH, of the White River Junction VA and the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice., and Peter C. Albertsen, M.D., of the University of Connecticut, studied data from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program.

There are numerous points in this article that I take issue with.
How do you tell 27,000 men that die each year from prostate cancer that "Prostate cancer screening has resulted in substantial overdiagnosis and in unnecessary treatment" ?
I'm a Gleason 7 and Glad I was diagnosed and received treatment. My dad was diagnosed back in 1997 and is a Prostate cancer survivor. I think its articles like this that actually cause men to NOT GET TREATED until its to late. A good friend of mine at Church died from Prostate Cancer 3 years ago because he refused any treatment.
I believe that EARLY DETECTION IS KEY to surviving and beating this cancer.
Should I tell my two sons that have two grandfathers and me their father that have all had prostate cancer to not get screened? HELL NO get screened and treated if needed.
