Best way to clean adhesive marks from skin due use of colostomy bag

Its been five weeks so far that I've used ConvaTec Sur-Fit Natura two-piece colostomy bag. Alread am getting adhesive markings from skin barrier stuck on abdominal skin. How do I safely remove adhesive that remains on skin? Also, little hairs are starting to grow back on ab. Hoping someone's experience will help me here. Will also ask doctors at future visit.

    I started off with the Convatec and had the same problem. I switched to the Hollister 2 piece system and rarely have the problem of adhesive buildup. When I do have to remove adhesive I use a non oily nail polish remover, which is the same as the remover they sell to take off the adhesive. As to those little hairs, I shave them off about once a month or so. But don't do that at the same time that you use the remover because it will sting. You'll find that the less you fuss with the skin around the stoma the better off you'll be.

    Hi. I used prescription product, Uni-Solve, my insurance paid for it, comes in a box of 50 individual 50 wipes. Made by Smith+Nephew company. Works very well and is made for stoma care. Also used Skin-Prep, it is also made for stoma care, it puts protection between your skin and the adhesive. These products worked very well for me and kept the skin on my stomach in good shape.

    I always.....
    ....remove the wafer with an alcohol adhesive remover, you can get it through a prescription as well with your Colostomy needs..In my prescriptions, I get the phalanges, wafers, 2 adhesive pastes, Stomahesive powder (which is great to put on your skin before the wafer as well, it lessens the redness for me), I get 2 boxes of Barrier wipes, use before you put that wafer on, but the alcohol adhesive removers work well taking them off, and I wipe the whole area with it, making sure it wipes off the paste and the adhesive, then I just jump in the shower, and wash it with the nice warm soapy water :)

    I too...........
    use the Hollister 2 piece and I also use the All-Kare brand of adhesive remover(citrus smell) to take off my adhesive patch and also to remove adhesive residue.Then I simply shower..

    They come 50/box and I think Convatec or Hollister both carry the same brand of them............
    Just prior to removing my patch for changing I use an adhesive wipe to completely saturate the outside of the adhesive barrier and leave it to soak in for approx 5 minutes. Then I get in the shower and then remove it placing the whole system into a disposal bag.....Clift

    Just shaved it off
    Whenever I had build up I just applied the dry shaving powder and shaved it off. I used a fresh disposable every time but I only needed to shave about once a week. If the razor didn't get it, I kept a straight razor handy but only needed it once for a really small spot, I did it in the shower while it was wet.
