Got passed the " hair thing"
The only problem I am having so far is my scalp is sore. The stylist I went to did not completely shave my head..she left approximately 1/8th inch of hair. That is what is hurting..feels like prickley pins. I guess I will get used to it...does anyone else have this experience?? What do you do for it?? Should I completely shave my head??

prickley pins
You can either shave it right to the scalp but be careful OR use a lint brush that has tape on it to take those loose prickley pin hairs off your scalp.

Hair thing.
Hi.,your a step ahead of me.my hair is starting to come out more now.It scares me to death.I know I have to get through this but wow its a tuff one.Like you 2 weeks ago I got it cut short to get use to it.Now its comming out more so it won,t be long now.Its been 12 days since my first Chemo.I think in a few days I will get it cut like you did.I have seen on this sight where they advice that. And they say the little pieces of hair will fall out.One lady said she took a lint roller over it and the rest came out.Might have to wait a few days I don,t know.bless your heart.this has been one of the hardest things for me.I tell myself its silly but still can,t stop this sad feeling about it.Sounds like your doing ok.Take care.God bless you.(Pat).0 -

My scalp got extremely tender as my hair began to fall out, couldnt even stand to touch my head. I had my sister to buzz me as short as the clippers would get and the next day my head wasnt as sore. I dont think razor shaving your head is recommended, like mentioned in earlier post I also use a lint roller to take care of the short stubby hairs.

I am glad you are doing so well, the positive attitude helps. My scalp tingled also, nothing helped. Just something to live with, drove me crazy.0 -
Moisturize -- it may make you feel better
I have never had a sensitive scalp before, but notice it now during chemotherapy. I have noticed that sometimes my skin is sensitive -- all over. Applying a moisturizer helps a LOT. The skin on hands, feet and head seem to be the worst. I apply coconut oil when I think of it, and lanolin oil at least once a week -- these have healing properties. A few times a week I'm using a Cetaphil cream which is like cold cream -- it is petroleum based but it is so soothing! Feels cool and refreshing and good when it goes on irritated skin. Sometimes I don't realize that my skin is dry and irritated until after I applly the cream and feel better.
Also, when you apply sunscreen, don't forget to apply it to your head -- which is no longer shielded by hair. Use lots of sun screen everywhere. Might help you feel better.0
