Surgery is scheduled

Had the appt with the surgeon and my surgery is scheduled for October 29th at 7:15. They will be doing the following.
Laparoscopic assisted proctosigmoidectomy, coloanal anastomosis, and a loop ileostomy. I don't post very often but to recap. I was Dx on 7/1/9 with stage IIa rectal cancer. I went through 5 weeks of radiation and chemo (Xeloda). I apparently had a good reaction with the radiation. The tumor shrank considerably and is now just a bump on the wall. Anyway, everything is positive so we are gearing up for the next hurdle.

Try to get your strength up
Try to get your strength up between now and surgery cos operation is going to take alot out of you. However your reaction to rad/chemo (did both as well. with Xeloda and other chem)I found surgery aftermath to be more difficult. My tumor also shrunk but upon cutting me open, surgeon found an unexpected mess so op lasted 6 1/2 instead of 3 1/2 hours) Best of luck, you can survive this.....Have only positive thoughts around you.0 -
Surgery
Wishing you good luck on your surgery. Not sure what type of surgery that is, but sounds a lot less invasive than mine was. I also have a loop ileostomy which I assume is going to be a temporary for you too, but I'm not quite sure. Glad that you had a wonderful response to chemo and radiation. Let us know how you are doing.
