Hi all, so sory I haven't benn posting alot lately, but I wanted to let you all know how I've been doing with rad's.

So far I'm okay just exceptionally tired, I've only had 11 treatments so far but I get a booster with each treatment, so I guess that has something to do with it. I'm also still working about 32 hours a week, but I'm not sure I'll be able to keep that up either. Being tired makes me moody, so my family is having to put up with me alot.

I read the post about rad's NOT being a piece of cake and boy do I ever agree with that. I'm already staring to turn alittle pink and sleeping and work shirts are very uncomforatble, but I'm getting through this.

Sorry I don't mean to be such a bummer, and i feel bad that I haven't been able to be much support to antone, but I want you all to know that you're always in my heart, thoughts and prayers!

This Saturady I'm supposed to do a walk for Rady's childrens Hospital, and the on the 1st of Novemeber I'm doing the Susan B. Koeman walk for breast cancer so I'll let you know how all that turns out. For now I'm just chugging along and trying to get as much sleep as I can by going to bed early.

Good luck to everyone one with tests, surguries, and appts. And to all of you with good news, congrats.

As always your in my prayers,
Aurora

    You're a tough cookie!
Aurora - I'm sorry you're so fatigued already. It sounds to me like you are a superwoman - rads, work, charity stuff. I will be starting rads in the next two weeks and I also work 30 hours a week and I was hoping to keep working. I hope I can be as strong as you. I'll add you to my prayer list.

Can I ask a question? What does it mean when you get a booster? I've seen that in several places here and I'm not sure what it is. Thanks.

I hope you can get some good rest!

But right now I sure don't feel like a super anything lol.

The way I understand it a booster is a direct, or more concentrated blast of radiation that's concentrated at the tumor site, most people have the normal full breast treatment for any where from 28 to 35 treatments and then have another 5 to 8 treatments that are strickly boosters, but for some reason my rad doctor like to give a booster at the end of each full breast treatment every day. In the long run I'm only having 26 treatment in all. So that's kinda cool, but my breast is already redish and sore to the touch and I'm extremely tired.

So it's taking it's toll on me. You should be just fine. I have a very labor intensive job and the holidays make it even harder, but I'm getting through it so far anyway. Just get as much sleep as you can.

I usually start my day at 6am, get the kids to 2 diferent schools, and myself to work by 8am. I leave there at 3pm have my treatment at 3:40 and come home by 4pm. If I'm lucky I get a short nap before the kids get home about 6pm (thank God for family filling in the gaps there)
After dinner, baths, and homework, I'm usually in bed before they are.

I think I can do this, but I'll let you know how the next 3 1/2 weeks go :)

    Take Care,
    Aurora

    OMG!!
Next to you Aurora I feel like that trash bag, you know....wimpy, wimpy, wimpy. You definitely remind me of the "hefty, hefty, hefty" version!! LOL I would never, in my wildest dreams, be able to accomplish all you are doing during rads! I still can not regain any strength. Only good thing....rads doc said NO MAMMO next month!! Bummer, I was actually looking forward to it to make sure everything worked! Not until February. But he said I could be up till a YEAR getting my energy back!! Gulp!! No way....I'm stocking up on caffeine shots now!! Hubby and Son already got their running shoes by the door!! I do buzz on caffeine shots!! HA,ha!! No, really, don't overdo it! Rest, rest, rest!! That is the best medicine for your body! Hugs...Pammy

I am told they want to wait
I am told they want to wait awhile after you finish RADS. They know I will be starting like mid October and probably finish late Nov or early Dec. My first isn't scheduled until March. That was what the Oncology surgeon said. He said RADS change you breast in itself, so they need a baseline mammo AGAIN to see how things look after RADs. At least that's what I understood him to say.
