    Taxol
I lost my hair after AC/cytoxen. I'm on Herceptin/Taxol now. Just finished w 2nd dose. I feel this is less harse than the AC. Main complaint is bones ache. Able to eat w this. Able to go about normal routine. Mainly in the afternoon feel tired and achey. I know this goes against most everyone, but I kind of like being bald. I hab down the back long hair. Upkeep is nothing. Def wash and go. So go ahead and shave. Wear it as a badge of survival. It will come back and it's not a statement of who you are, but a statement what your going through. Good luck. Smiles Katz

I did taxol/avastin for a year. It was the first chemo I did, so I was very nervous about it. I found it very tolerable. I had to stop after a year because of the neuropathy. Since I was a little girl I had long hair down my back. I started to lose it pretty quickly after starting chemo, so I shaved it all off. I was amazed how easy it made it to take care of. Talk about wash & go! I bought a wig for work, and got several pretty scarves and hats for play. I don't know about anyone else, but my scalp actually hurt while losing my hair. It did itch occasionally, but I think that happens as it grows back too. Now I'm back to a full head of hair, and I'm not supposed to lose my hair on this chemo I just started - yay! Hope you do as well as I did...best of luck!!! :)

    AC/Taxol and side effects
I did 4 rounds of Adriamycin and Cytoxan and just finised 4 rounds of Taxol last week. I fought shaving my head too and finally when I did, I had it shaved with clippers that had an attachment to leave the hair about an inch long. After that no more fell out and I had a very, very thin, short hair for the rest of the time. I've only worn scarves, no wigs and it's never been itchy. You need to do what you think you'll be comfortable with. It seems people do just about everything there is to deal with it.

Taxol was better and worse. Overall Taxol is easier. I was less fatiqued and never felt nauseous. It did have a few side effects that were worse. I got terrible muscle and joint pain that was hard to control with regular pain stuff (advil, aleve etc.) but it only lasted a couple days. I also got neuropathy in my fingers and feet and that's constant. It's not disabling but it was annoying until I started getting used to it. They tell me it will go away in time. Good luck with it - it's a bear but you've got the strength to get through!

I will be having my #8 treatment of Taxol/ Herceptin this week I lost my hair when I was on A/C. But now I have peach fuzz coming back so I guess it means my hair will be growing! I have been lucky with only side effects of being tired the day of chemo and a little achy. Hugs, Diane

I did taxol/herceptin weekly for 12 weeks. One day after my second treatment my hair started to come out so I called a friend and told her to get her clippers out ... that I was on my way over. I was prepared because I'd ordered a cute little denim "bucket" hat from the tlc catalog ... so after my friend shaved my head I plopped the hat on and we went to the mall to "celebrate." It was an amazing feeling ... very, very low-maintenance!

    hugs.

Did A/C (dose dense, 4X) and
Did A/C (dose dense, 4X) and then Taxotere (dose dense, 4X). I too had neuropathy in hands and feet and my nails got really weird. A bit more than a year later and the neuropathy is gone and my nails are fine. I had neupogen shots to keep my white blood cell count up following each treatment. xoxoxoxo Lynn
