emily - alkaline water?
Since 1 lymph node popped positive after 4 weeks after chemo, **** will start treatment again.(chemo) In addition he is going with the Anticancer and Alkaline food and water choices. We are going to beat cancer and grow old together. The alkaline water systems are so expensive that we want to buy the right one. What do you recommend?

Baking Soda
Someone sent me an email a couple of weeks ago about putting baking soda in water twice a day, and downing that. It causes alkalinity in the body, and helps kill cancer cells. I haven't tried it myself, but i can't imagine it tastes very good. Maybe put in a couple drops of agave nectar.

Kangen Water
Hi Kathleen,
I have a Kangen water filter system, my brother bought it for me about 2 years ago, it was kind of expensive about $4000, I have a friend that uses alkaline drops that is supposed to do the same thing. I'll contact her tomorrow and see what it is if you want. I'm a fellow 808er so we're on the same time schedule. I do believe in the alkaline diet thing, I recently went to see a nutritionist to make sure I was eating all the right foods and she said that I have a eating disorder to control my cancer. I kind of took some of the things she said but I think I wasted my money. She said there is no proof that sugar feeds cancer, I don't believe her, I too like Christa believe the stuff about the Pet Scan. Anyhow good luck and I'll call my friend tomorrow and let you know.

all Soda Ash does is neutralize the acidic or alkaline back to safe levels around 7.4. so that it can be handled...it is also used in water municipalities to acheive a drinkable level. Want to try something that will make you think...try a PH meter on a coca cola..it will register about a 3.3, think about what that may be to your tummy. I think if you will find and talk with a chemical engineer and mix that with a little common sense and you can devise something a lot cheaper than $4k...You may go the cheapest route and buy pool ph papers that will tell whether it is alkaline or acidic...or better yet, buy a PH meter and simply add your own soda ash (baking soda). If you buy drinking water simply figure out what amount goes into each bottle and add it before drinking......bon appetit'.......Clift0 -

I bought PH papers on Amazon and check my PH periodically. When I was first diagnosed my readings were pretty acidic (especially compared to my husband who was so alkaline the strips turned dark blue). After changing my diet and drinking more alkaline water I noticed that my PH started to become more alkaline as well. I did buy alkalinity drops and will add those to my water. I found that of the bottled waters Evian was the most alkaline. If I drink bottled I try buy that brand. Good luck!

I would think that distilled water would be 'neutral"
You can buy distilled water in the brand name Smart Water....it has electrolytes added and it was suggested by two doctors for me. It is about a dollar a liter, look for sales, buy it in bulk.

bitter melon?
I just had some sauteed bitter melon for lunch -- pretty good. Okinawans are said to attribute their long lives to bitter melon. I suppose it's probably alkaline. It's less than $4000.

My mom use to call water she sat out on the counter overnight distilled and used it in her irons as we grew up. I think that chlorine is about all that leaves water after 24 hrs and the anions and cations and all the minerals are left behind, this is what ruined most of these older irons was the scale and buildup that alkalinity causes and also salts left behind. Minerals are removed by a demineralizer or by reverse osmosis types of cation (+) ions and anions (-) ions are charged to draw like a magnet their opposite attracting ions removing them from the source(water). When water has been demineralized it becomes very aggressive trying to regain the minerals lost, and it appears to have a slick almost lotion like consistency. This is what is known as the conductivity of the water which is how many + or - ions remain after demineralization. Demineralized water is great to use in car batteries because it causes hardly any lead cell buildup thus not shortening the life of the battery, but its not recommended for drinking. It will regain its minerals through your system. Not Good....So Smart Water as it is called has not been demineralized and distilled can be whatever the traffic will bear but the water in itself can be great for hydration and some have nutrients in it but I don't think the difference in regular and Smart would be worth the price......Sorry, I think I just gave myself a lesson on Reverse Osmosis and lost the main track of this thread....................Good Luck, Clift0 -

It looks like a warty cucumber, Shayenne, and is used in Chinese, Thai, and other Eastern cookery. Kathleen will have no problem finding it at any grocery here in Hawaii, if she wants to try it. It is alkaline and rather strong tasting. According to its advocates (not including me), its medicinal properties cure cancer, HIV, and so on. I'm having some more right now.

You guys are the best. That is all great info. Greg - I will go buy some bitter melon - we'll learn to like it. **** and I use the PH urine strips today and he was at 6.5 and I was at 6.2 so we have some alkalining to do. Emily I will keep in mind that the goal is to be balanced.
Thanks for all the good info. I heard from Donna, in Hawaii, that our water supply is at 7.0, we do have wonderful water here so maybe no need for a machine.

I strickly monotored my pH
When I was doing all my alternatives! The green drink I drank every morning (Green Magma) was very alkalining. I also always (and still do) squeeze fresh lemon juice in my H2O. It alkalines the water and doesn't cost big bucks. Sea salt is very alkaline while table salt is very acidic (isn't that amazing!!!).
If you google chemical pH of foods, you will find a chart listing most foods and beverages. Not surprising, all drugs are acidic so you have to work hard to maintain an alkaline pH while on chemo.
One of the things I found the most interesting (other than sea salt vs table salt) is what juicing does. If you eat a carrot it is slightly alkaline but when you juice it and remove the pulp it becomes mostly alkaline. That is one of the many advantages of fresh juices.

Just thought to add: I used to give mom DCA mixed with Na-bicarbonate (to neutralize DCA which is a very strong acid). I used to calculate to [cc.] to her weight so to make sure I don't overdose her (as it can cause severe side-effects if overdosed). I heard it is really good, but I cannot tell from experience if it helped, or not. Maybe it did...maybe that's why she was with me "longer"....I dunno. I also gave her early mornings fresh lemon juice that I sqeezed from from lemon and added water to it, just as Lisa P. said.
I just thought to add this, maybe you'll consider it.

Hi Dear Ones,
I eat about 4 - 6 oranges a day with vanilla yogurt. I don't know anything about this subject..I know oranges are acidic. Is this a problem? My doctors said it was ok. What do you think? Thanks for your input.
