Me too. Went through "instant" menopause cause of total hysterectomy, the colon ca had spread there. The nurse at the oncologist office suggested soy, and vitamin E. The vitamin E really did the trick for me in reducing the hot flashes and night sweats, you should ask your doctor if it would be ok for you to try. I hope further treatments will get your ca spread under control and that you can get some relief from symptoms soon.

I did chemo when I was 31 years old. It brought me into premature menopause at 33 in full blown menopause. The best thing that truly worked because I had most of my hotflashes at night, If I could strip down to nothing ASAP I was in good shape. The hot flash seem to disappear as quickly as it game. However, I have been reading studies that if your testosterone level gets low that to sends you into hot flashes. Women have testosterone levels too. Just because it may turn out in the normal range, some people are normal in the high range so keep an open mind to that. I will have to get back with you on the research. I find new and interesting stuff while searching for other things, and I just remember what an easy fix for we women to put a little gel on our shoulders to bring us to norm when we try all kinds of crazy things for a little comfort.
Make it a great day!

Hot flashes are no fun -that's for sure.
The chemo can cause you to have menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and loss of periods. After chemo the symptoms may or may not go away.
I had the symptoms too and then a few months after chemo ended my periods did return and the hot flashes stopped. Then 6 months after I had to have my remaining ovary out do to mets and am back to the fun of permanent menopause! It has been tolerable-well atleast for me- I'm not sure if my family would agree!!!
Stay cool,

...yes, I like not having my "friend" anymore, but I think I was lucky, I didn't have those Hot flashes, it just totally stopped, and I don't know if it comes back or not after treatments, but I must have been lucky to not have the symptoms. Hope you feel better soon!

I am with you. The radiation I had to the rectal area fried my ovaries. I was already having night sweats now I get to add hot flashes with it! Like not dealing with the monthly visit though.

do hot flashes always seem to hit when I am in the middle of a shopping trip? I was beginning in the previous year before the cancer Dx, and chemo just threw me the rest of the way. I do not miss "mu little friend" at all, but damn....shopping, and I was just learning how again! (although I was at a doc appt last week and had one, she just laughed along with me and fanned me with a magazine - lol)0 -
