Hi all, diagnosed stage 3, in April 08, surgery and chemo. Curently NED. 5 months after my diagnosis, my 32 year old son was diagnosed same cancer. He is currently doing treatment, has been for about 1 year. His doctor told he and his wife to not concieve becasue he was concerned that it would cause the baby to be born with some type of birth defect. Well, I was told today that they are with child and so concerned about the health of the unborn. Does anyone have any experience in this matter and do they have anything to be concerned about. I don't want them thinking about alternatives, but to be able to enjoy this moment that they prayed for before my son's diagnosis.

    2nd opinion
I would get another opinion from another doctor, your son is sick with cancer, not with a desease that would cause a birth defect.Cancer is not a birth defect, but it is a deadly desease, also the radiation will probably render him sterile,if he does radiation. That's just my opinion,I will pray for him.

    My thought is
that the son was already doing chemo when the pregnancy happened and thats where the concern lies, not with the disease....Hope for all to be well........

    pregnancy during chemo treatment
Thanks all of you. That is where the concern lies in that the pregancy happened during treatments. His wife is scheduled for some type of genetic testing next week that is suppose to tell whether or not there is any sort of birth defects. We pray all is well with both baby and daddy, and of course mommy.
