    Sneaking a peek
I just snuck a peak at how everyone's weekend plans are going. It all sounds great. A new Harley, MAKING salsa, a trip on the Autoban (you're a speed demon, Kathi!), staying at home and watching movies. I hope everyone continues to have a great weekend. I'm currently in bed, drinking green tea and reading my magazine. I'm also in a hot bidding war to win a first edition of "Little House on the Prairie" by Laura Ingalls Wilder on ebay. If I win, it will complete my collection. I can't wait to tell you guys what crazy thing I'm doing next weekend. Thanks for responding.

    Mimi, I'm so jealous!
You just brought back such memories for me -- I was the HUGEest Laura Ingalls Wilder reader when I was a little girl.

The librarian at my elementary school actually ended up banning me from the "W" section of the school library (seriously, I'm not making this up), so that I would stop just reading them over and over and read something else!

So instead I asked my mom to buy them for me, so I wouldn't have to fight with that mean librarian anymore. We even bought Farmer Boy, just to complete the collection, but I never actually read it -- 'cause it was about a BOY you know -- ick, eww!

    (sorry, Aortus! :-)

Mimi, let us know if you win the bidding war!

Jumping in ... time to clean the cobwebs from my brain
First 3 chemo cocktail on Tuesday .. picking up dog's #2 .. sunburned on Wednesday, 10 minutes outside ... Note to self: put on sunscreen next time.

Wednesday and Thursday ... took it easy .. hair feels dry and brittle .. ok .. next stop .. no hair ..

Friday .. spent 5 1/2 hours at St Joe's .. bone scan (MimiVac) the waiting is a bit too much. Ct scan .. stitches out on port site .. I am hoping & praying that this is not my life for the next 6 months. Consipated .. fatigued .. and sunburned .. I guess I am doing ok ... Up until 3:00 a.m. Saturday a.m.

What do I doing this week-end .. Hell, I taking control of my life .. I plan on cooking, shopping and watching football.

I have not left my home, this week with the exception of chemo treatment, and scans. No way to live. I am not working, so I have decided that my full time job is to get well, stay in control of my life and help others.

    Have a wonderful week=end .. all.

    I've never seen this before.
I've never seen this before. Great idea! Last night I had my Barium Sulfate (aka BS cocktail) - yummy! Went to hospital for scan. Today, dealing with the B.S. hangover. Tonight, steak & wine or martini, ice cream and movie. Tomorrow - lemonade stand with the kids.

I too had a "mean" librarian at the local library. All of the plays were kept upstairs and she didn't want kids running up and down. I was 11 and I politely explained I needed to pick out a book. She let me go up and then wasn't going to let me check it out unless I could read the title to her. It was Pygmalion. When I correctly pronounced it to her...no joking here...she had to get the head librarian to tell her if I was right or not!!!

    Have a great weekend!

    Not doing a lot this
Not doing a lot this weekend. I only have 5 more rads left, so my skin is in bad shape.
I have to do soaks 4 times a day, so I am pretty confined. (They are called Domeboro soaks.) My biggest fear is that the skin will get so bad that the rest of my rads will be rescheduled. I just want to get this over! This week it is "booster" rads to the tumor bed.

I did go to the beauty salon this a.m. to get hair done. They are opening on Sat. just for me during the rads, since I can't get there early enough. They are prob. hoping for a quick end to the rads also!

What a wonderful way to keep
What a wonderful way to keep in touch that isn't just centered on TX, scans, etc. I am enjoying Oahu. Today we drove past Diamond Head, around the northeast side and back past the Pali Lookout. Beautiful and so peaceful. Even though I wasn't up to hiking to the Pali Lookout itself, it was nice to drive through the lush tropical forest up to it and see the tops of the mountains covered with swirling fog. Reminded me of some of the scenes from the 3rd Juraissic Park movie - just no flying terradactyls (whoops if I spelled it wrong)
Tomorrow it's a drive to Punchbowl Crater. I do at least want to try to go to the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. As my daughter has said to me "It's hard to believe you just had major surgery." But I am taking it slow and riding in a car with the seat reclined some and looking at beautiful ocean and mountains and blue sky is much preferrable to laying in bed anytime!
Good luck Mimi on Monday, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Lola

    No Big Plans
Thanks for reviving this. I have been trying to get back to the site but have been consumed with work. When I am well they keep me busy. This is a good thing and bad; I like to keep some sense of normalsy but I get tired and need a nap at 3pm. I am so tired I could just lie down right there in the field where I am pulling samples. Got to watch out for poison ivy though. :)

Had my 4th chemo round; got 2 to go. My red cells are still kind of low. The docs put me on some iron tabs. We'll see if this works. Not too much going on. Just fighting the fatigue and the trots. Got to stay close to the RR so no outings for me. My hiney is quite sore. I think I should take out stock in butt creams. I could make a fortune and pay my bills. (Ha Ha)

So I am laying low; doing my routine chores when I have the energy; and getting much love from my pets. They always seem to know when I am hurting and rush to my aid to cheer me up.

I will live my weekend through some of you guys - camping, new Harley, fine dining.

    Love ya,

    P

    Winding down
Thanks for all the updates throughout the weekend. Traci and Pammy, I won the Little House book! BUT, I got it at my absolute maximum price. Until the last second it seemed that I would get a bargain and then someone new bid like $50 more at the last second. I still won, but at a price. Whew! So, now I'm sitting in bed, drinking my green tea, and thinking of what to do today (besides transferring money to Paypal. LOL). It's a crisp fall day, which makes me think of renewal. I hope everyone enjoys this last precious day of the weekend. Except Jeanne, who probably has many more days on the lake to come. I'm jealous!

    Yeah! (clapping hands)
Bravo. It always happens that way. My son-in-law decided to sell Fortress Maximus when the transformer movie came out. To me, it looked like a plastic toy. But we decided to have a get together the last couple hours and watch the bidding. With 45 minutes to go, the bidding went from $157.00 to it's finale sale price of $789.00!!! For a piece of plastic!!
I about dropped dead! (well, really I didn't 'cause I'm still here!). So I finally learned to eBay and decided to sell my 45 collection. It's fun to watch. A pain to list (just time consuming). Now when I think of all the stuff worth money I sold at garage sales for a dollar here and a dollar there.....I could have bought the boat to take a cruise!! Hugs and glad you won!! Pammy
