I was dx with stage IV sereous papillary ovarian Sept.08. I have had 5 rounds IV carbo/taxol IV and 3 rounds of cisplatin/taxol IP. I completed by chemo the end of April '09. I am 42yrs old with 2 young children. I am TERRIFIED of reoccurence. Does the stage of disease determine when a reoccurence will occur?

    Do you believe the IV
Do you believe the IV vitamins help? Are you recv'ng vit c? I am being treated at a very well known cancer center in NYC. I had optimal debulking and aggressive chemo. CA125 went from 720 prior to surgery to 70 after surgery. The lowest my ca125 went was 7 after treatment was completed. CA125 went to a 9 at my 3 month check. I am plagued with GI symptoms though. Do you have GI problems?

    Vitamin IV
    Hi Nancy,
I too have stage 3c and have had 1 chemo treatment of carbo/taxol. I would like to know more about the Vitamin Infusions. Did you start during chemo or after? Will the insurance pay for it? I pray that you do not have a re-occurence.

    God Bless

    Some do,
Dear Nancy, I am stage IV also. I treat this disease as a chronic one like diabetes, etc. Worry is wasted energy and with those to cuties in your arms, you need all the energy focussed on them. The stage neither determines when a recurrence will occur or even if one will. We are all different. Looks like you have had optimum results and that is really good. (((Hugs and Prayers))) Saundra

    Poor Eating Habits
    Hi Nancy,
I too had very poor eating habits, but I am trying to change the way I eat but its hard when the chemo takes your weight away and you have 3 weeks to bulk up for the next one. Thanks for the info on the Vitamin C Infusion. Where do you go to get yours? I may check into that. I have been trying to drink fresh carrot juice every day, I'm taking Acidophilus tablets and I also bought Flor-Essence Liquid Tea De-tox in which I plan on starting tomorrow. I think its great that you have been free since January 2008. I am praying that you will stay in remission,

    God Bless

    chelation
    Hello Nancy (both Nancys),

I take vitamin C orally. My Naturopathic doctor says to take as much as you can each day until you have diarrhea. I do believe in it, and wish that I wouldn't forget to do it some days.

About the chelation. I also believe in that. Because of the expense and time involved, my alternative doctor let me purchase suppositories. They are far less expensive, but only accomplish about a 1/3 less chelation.

I'm not convinced that he knows for sure, but he did tell me that I could use the suppositories during chemotherapy. I would like to know more about this from the Nancy that does chelation. I know we want to keep the chemo in our system for as long as possible, but does it have much affect after about three days? I've asked my chemo nurses, and they don't seem to really know. One oncologist told me when I asked him, that the chemo is out of your system in 24 hours. However, I don't remember which chemo I was on at the time.

My protocol is now both Cisplatin and Gemzar together every other week, so I was thinking of 'detoxing' about three days after chemo. What do you think?

I had hair analysis done about a year and a half ago and it was devastating!!!!! I couldn't believe how high everything was. I've read that the platin drugs affect your magnesium for up to two years after treatment. Also, my copper was very high, which is because of having cancer. Apparently, copper is needed to help grow blood vessels to feed the tumors. Does anyone know what you could take to counteract the copper? My doctor says that it is a difficult situation. And, of course, you would only try to do something like that under the watchful eye of a doctor.

Nancy591, your children are beautiful and so are you! As Bonnie said, there are a lot of long term survivors! Keep your thoughts positive! Lots of hugs, MM
