Davinci-Day 8 catherterless---Remembering 9-11

Congratulations Nick
Been waiting to hear how it went yesterday. Glad everything turned out great.
You are right about today, 9/11. Sure puts a lot of things in perspective. I have been saying for years, when greeted by someone with "How are you?", my response is always "Every Day Is A Bonus". And I truly mean it too. Anytime we sit and think about the troubles we have in our lives, we only have to pause just a moment and look around, it doesn't take long to realize that there are a great many with far greater problems than we have.
So good luck, stay dry, enjoy the time off from work and build your strength for the next part of the process, working on the rehab programming.
If you have seen the baseball movie the "Rookie", there is a line when the older player says to the younger, "You know what we get to do today, we get to play baseball".
In my house it's going to be "Yea! Today we get to practice rehab". I figure you might as well have as much fun as you can.
Take care and know that the prayers and blessings are still following you,

Nick,
Sounds like you are
Nick,
Sounds like you are doing great! I also got up about every 2 hours that first night and still seem to wake up frequently now to pee during the night. But so glad that I have control and no drips! Keep walking, keep up on the kegel's. Try and stop and start the urine flow while you are actually peeing. Also keep pushing the water but taper off in the early evening. I found I have to stop drinking anything around or before 6pm to get as much out of my system by bedtime. Last night I only had to get up one time and then made it till 8am this morning! Tommorrow will be one month for me post surgery.
Also thanks for pointing out about the 9-11 victims. Just as we never wanted this cancer their familier never wanted that tragedy.

Sonny I have only 1 thing to tell you about pre surgery, dont wear yourself out trying to do all the things that you think you have to before surgery. Relax and realize most jobs will be there in 4 to 6 weeks. The day before surgery try to relax and things will be ok with you as I and many others will be praying for a complete success to your surgery.....Nick0 -

That I don't know Nick and I have wondered that myself. For me I have been 99.99% dry. A couple times I've had a very small drip but nothing to worry about. Or I might be standing getting ready to get in the shower with the water running to warm up and might get a small drip. Again these have been very small drips and believe me I've been thrilled. Nothing like some of the men warn about sneezing, laughing, bending, walking etc.
I've noticed that when I get into the bathroom near the toilet and start to get ready I have to get READY Fast and better have your aim in the right direction! I used a total of one pad and that was the one I took to the Doctor's office. It really wasn't even damp or wet but threw it away that first evening after getting the Cath out.
Also stay away from Apple Juice! I found out that will aggravate the bladder. I had two glasses one night with dinner and was up almost every hour in the Bathroom peeing away! Didn't sleep much that night! I called the doctor's office the next morning and they asked what I had drank. They said stay away from apple juice in the evening!

Congratulations! Looks like
Congratulations! Looks like we're all on a winning streak here, let's keep it going. Even though I'm dry I find that I have to get up 2-3 times a night instead of the 1 time before the surgery. And when I get the urge, it's pretty strong. Today I drove 45 minutes and really had to go when I got to my destination. Don't think I could have held it another 5 minutes. I'm going to get one of those small urinals for the car in case I have another situation like that, so I can pull over to the side of the road.0 -

My dad had radiation treatments 13 years ago and carries a 'jar' in the car for such emergencies. So far I've done well and have always found a bathroom in plenty of time. But haven't really been on any long trips yet.
