Well it has finally arrived, exactly one week from today I go to Detroit for my surgery. Thanks to you guys I am much better prepared that I ever would have been on my own.

And on that note, here is a very appropriate THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

HANDLE EVERY STRESSFUL SITUATION LIKE A DOG WOULD

IF YOU CAN'T EAT IT OR PLAY WITH IT

JUST PEE ALL OVER IT AND WALK AWAY

PSA November 2007 3.0
PSA May 2009 6.4
Diagnosis confirmed July 9, 2009
12 Needle Biopsy = 9 clear , 3 postive
<5%, 90%, 40%
Gleason Score (3+4) 7 in all positive cores
CT Organ Scan - negative
Nuclear Bone Scan - Negative

Surgery set for September 17th, 2009 with Dr. Mani Menon at the Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit.

    Flying our of Orlando on the 16th
    My planes leaves Orlando the morning of the 16th. I plan to get set up in the apartment, buy a few groceries and get a good nights rest. I am scheduled for the first surgery of the day on your birthday, the 17th.

    Good luck to you Sonny, may God bless you on your journey.
    Your "stats" are similar, with exceptions, to mine: age 60, PSA 22, Gleason total 7, 12 pin biopsy all postive and all scans negative. It's been 6 months since my radical prostatectomy. Last followup PSA 0.008. Go into it with a positive attitude as it appears you are. Loved your thought for the day. Keep us posted on your progress after surgery.

    Will you have anyone up
    Will you have anyone up there to assist you? I had a hard time for the first few days getting up out of bed from a laying down position. Was glad my wife was here to help. The later it got in the day was more difficult since I would be more tired. A few times in the middle of the night I would wake up and walk around inside of the house. Always needed a little push from my wife to help get me up.
