Thanks.

Thought about it
We thought about it. My husband was dx with advanced stomach cancer in Jan 09. Surgery was not an option at the time. He is in the middle of his second regimen of chemo. The thing with stomach cancer is that it's so hard to maintain your weight. At lot of alternative treatments depend heavily on your diet. My husband has lost a total of 50lbs. And it's still a struggle to get him to eat.0 -
more info please..OCTOMAN said:No chemo
WhitneyscI have had stomach cancer for 7 years no chemo or surgery the cancer was a GIST (gastro intesinal stomal tumor) I also had liver cancer which took a vacation after 2 years.so at eighty next year I am open to questions if of any interest.
i watched my mom die in august 2005 from colo-rectal cancer. My 84 yr. maternal gram has had a CAT scan indicating a large growth in stomach / liver. She saw her daughter die and has no interest in seeking treatment after what she saw her daughter go through. She states she has had a good life and is ready, wants no treatment. Mom went through tons of painful treatments, she was very sick from the 1st treatment - the end, which was roughly 2.5 years. Mom's cancer was a devastating thing for all of us. We understand Gram's reasoning and frankly don't blame her a bit -except for pain. gram says now she has limited pain but has history of being strong for her britches. She lives alone for the most part but her only wishes are to not be put in a "home". Have made arrangements to ensure this but am scared. Mom was in drug induced state, or said they said, but it was horrible at the end... Has anyone went through this, unassisted by drugs?? What should we expect.0 -
STOMACH CANCER SURVIVAL
I was diagnoesed with stomach cancer 7 years ago,it had spread to my liver and kidneys.
So was given no treatment.
After two years a PET scan showed liver and kidneys were clear but stomach cancer was still active.
After 7 years I am well,I am eighty next year I have good times, where I feel very good and times feeling down,as I do now.just tired but relaxed.I just press on.until I regain my energy again.
The God of the bible leaves me cold, but I have captured the God feeling I used to have.
By behaving just as if God exists And follow the good advise, without the nonsense.
I now feel a better person, and feel the benefit.
Alternative medicine?.
Well I have left out of my diet all animal meat, tea, coffee alcohol,
I have fruit, veg.and anything that is benificial.I exercise as much as I can as.with as great as varity as I can.
All I have proved is it is possible for some people to survive cancer without treatment.0 -

My dad was diagnosed with stage IV gastric cancer about a month ago. He is starting his third cycle of chemo today Aug. 25 (on his 48th birthday) Doctors said that surgery was not an option and the cancer has spread to his liver. I would love to talk to other people who like my father, are going through this awful process too. I have faith that my dad will live for a while, but I'm scared. Can anyone give some words of hope?0 -

My brother is 45 and his cancer has spread to his liver. He has had so many other complications, and I am not sure where to go for help. The process is awful and very scary. Although he did well with chemo, it is the other complications that are hindering him from getting/feeling better, I pray every day. I will pray for your father too.0 -

I think that is great news. It gives me hope. My boyfriend has stomach cancer which has spread so like you he did not have any treatment. The thing is he has lost so much weight, about 50 or more lbs. I have encouraged him to eat a healthy diet but I am not the one cooking for him and I know he is not always eating what he should. There are days when he really does not eat anything much. Will this change and will he start eating again? Was that how you felt?0 -

When I look back now I wish that my mom did not have the chemo treatments. She was diagnosed at Stage 4 and wanted to fight with everything she could. She did a year of chemo and it distroyed her body from the inside out. The most vibrant beautiful forever young person that she was instantly aged 10 years. The problem with Chemo is it destroys your good cells and bad cells. It destroys your immune system, and your immune system is all you have left to make you better. Without it, you are losing the battle. I wish she would of just lived her life the best way she could without treatments. I think she would of actually lived longer and been able to do so much more.0 -

Weren't you in pain? My husband was diagnosed in June and was in such pain I couldn't wait to get him started on chemo. He has had 3 treatments and is on a clinical trial. He has 3 more but has been very sick, and not near as much pain as he had before. Was the cancer in your nodes too?0 -

Yeap, exactly the same experience here, I should have never let her do the chemo therapy, the platinum blocked her veins and she had a labyrinthitis from then on she went down, she didn't even reach the third quemo... I regret so much to have her do that deadly treatment I agree with you on the imune system opinion, but we didn't know any better at the time, it took us by surprise since they discovered it in an operation she had.0 -

try digestive enzymes...go to a reputable health food/vitamin store. Also, have you tried probiotics?0 -

My 55y old husband was DX in Oct 09 and shortly after DX made by CT abd and chest had the development of DIC occur. AT dx his cea was 667 AND cA 19-9 133,000.(Two months prior, he had a EGD and colon done. Also, an esphogram and ENT scope done also. All negative......) We were told to get affairs in order that prognosis was poor. Well going on his 8th chemo tx....we do every 3 weeks Taxotere and 5fu. CEA is 1.4 and ca 19-9 2100. He still works FT and weight is 190. He has the most outstanding outlook and work ethics!!!! He views each day as a blessing!!! By the way, he is a physician. Interested in other lab values at DX to compare0
