Thursday Corrine had a fever and was sore. She could not sleep Thursday night from pain and Friday it got worse. She called me at work about 2:30 and told me her temp was 101.5 and needed to go to emergency. The incision on her left breast was infected. She could not drive herself because of the meds she was taking. I was concerned because I work 60 miles from her house and I had to contend with traffic. We arrived at the hospital at 4:30, got into an emergency room at 8:30 and a private room at 10:30. She was in good hands and medicated so I went home after picking up her dog and brought her to my house. Her daughter was staying at a friends house. Corrine called me this morning at 7am and told me she was having surgery at 10am. The infection was so bad they needed to remove her left expander. Soon after Corrine's call, Shari (where Corrine's Daughter was staying) called me and said she had to take Brittani to the emergency room. Brittani was having abdominal pains and had a fever. Shari who is a PA was concerned it could be her appendix. While I am in Corrine's room after her surgery, I needed to make excuses to see her daughter. We did not want to alarm Corrine and kept the fact from her that her daughter was downstairs in the same hospital.
Bottom line: Britanni was there for 9 hours, needed an iv and some medication. I am not sure of the final diagnosis except she has some kind of infection or virus. This means she needs to be away from her mom until it clears up, nothing serious for Brittani. Corrine is resting comfortably, in good spirits and will be in the hospital until as least Monday. The onc also said she may need to postpone her next chemo treatment until they are sure the infection is completely gone. Corrine still does not know about Brittani. We will probably let her know tomorrow.
Good thing the Greenbay Packer game I missed last night was only preseason (lol).

    Hi,

Corrine is very lucky to have such great support in her life. It she every complains of pain and fever at the same time again; drag her kicking and screaming to the ER. She doesn't want to get a staff infection! Give Corrine my best and tell her I'm sending her healing thoughts, to her daughter also. Don't forget to take care of yourself in all of this.

    Love and gentle hugs,

Oh my~ as they say, you can't make this stuff up!!! What an ordeal~ bless your heart for being able to do all of this for Corinne and Brittani! Life sure throws us some curve-balls, doesn't it??? What a blessing that they both have you in their lives! I mean really, you even picked up her dog! You so rock!

I am so sorry that Corinne got infected; I can only begin to imagine her pain ~ and of course I hope that both she and Brittani have a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the update...give Corinne a big Cyber hug from us( they don't hurt at all! )

    Hi chilibbg
Corrine is certainly in good hands with you by her side.
I had a wound that would not heal and had to have one of my expanders out as well. Mine incision was never infected, but open. It did delay my chemo for about 3 wks, but I did manage to start about 7 weeks after my original surgery.

I will be thinking about Corrine and Brittani. Hopefully its nothing serious with her.

By the way, Im from Wisconsin and I watched that preseason Packer game. First string offense and defense were on fire...like someone had a blow torch under their butts. Monday night footfall on Oct 5 will be interesting when Green Bay meets Minnesota.

Hang in there... Corrine will be able to start her chemo soon
