Hi Hope the pain is better by now .
I had a lot of pain right in the center of my chest
I had a complete lung removed and then did the Chemo.
At first I did not want to do pain pills but if they offer them take them .
My self I have had a lot of side affects from the Chemo My oncologist will never say bad things about Chemo but my regular Doctor seems to think most of the things that are wrong with me are chemo related.
any way hope ya get better .

There are so many things that can cause pain. Radiation can cause arthritis-like inflamation of the cartilage in the chest. Cut nerves cause all kinds of phantom pain. Well, it is called phantom pain but believe me it feels quite real! That happens because the nerves don't understand that they no longer are attached the way they used to be. When something stimulates them they send the old signals--often painful ones though sometimes ticklish ones--but the pathways are messed up. That kind of pain may be bothersome, but it it is not anything serious and it does fade in time. Infections can cause inflamation that hurts. I remember not being able to sit up, lay down, or stand without tears streaming down my face when I had pleuresy... maybe you've been there. Sometimes an xray or another scan is needed to find out what is causing the problem. Sometimes a blood test is needed. I don't know about you, but any time something hurts my first fear is what that cancer is up to now. Of course, usually that's not the cause but it is good to get to the experts and find out for sure what it is. Many times it is something they can fix, once they know what it is. Insist on something to control the pain if it is keeping you from sleeping or enjoying life. There are many good pain relievers out there and no good reason to suffer. Folks in pain do not need to avoid pain-killers. They need to take them BEFORE the pain gets bad and keep taking them as needed. There are specialists in pain control just like there are specialists in pathology or oncology. If you have to be on a regular diet of pain pills, those specialists can help so that pain is relieved and quality of life is good. I hope the oncologist has a quick fix though so you are out of pain sooner!

I spoke with the PA when I took my husband for chemo and mentioned his pain. She has scheduled an ultrasound for Tuesday. I'll let you know what happens. She said she suspects gallbladder issues....who knows?0 -

My Mom was finally diagnosed with a cancerous mass in one lung and the other lung had collapsed from fluid. At first they gave pain pills, but they only helped for a short time, then the ER Dr gave her Lyrica 3 times a day. What a difference, it also helps people with terrible pain from cancer as well as fibromyalgia. I hope this helps you.0 -

We just got the CT results in and it seems that the chest pain my husband is having is mets to the bones. Seems it's traveled from the lungs to the bones....so now we have yet another area this horrible beast has attacked.0 -
