Radiation
It is my understanding that after a lumpectomy they do radiation to make sure any cancer cells that my have gotten "lose" during the surgery don't take root somewhere else in the breast. Radiation gets rid of those cells before they cause future problems.
Not having had any radiation/chemo yet, I can only tell you what I have learned from talking to doctors and reading posts like these.
I hope someone who has experience with radiation can answer your other questions.0 -
Wolfi is right....
That is basically why radiation is done in the area by the cancer. Then, the reason you take the pill, is so anymore stray cells in your body don't grow and also to stop any new cells from starting. There are different kinds. It will depend if you are premenapausal (like me) or postmenapausal (already went through the change). Your Doctor will decide which one is right for you. Some are more expensive than others. Hang in there and keep us posted. ♥ Pammy0
