Hi,
Well the dr did the EUS and it was not in situ even though my PET/CAT scan showed no lighting up in esophagus. So right now the dr is saying T2 or T3 thru to the muscle wall and it might be 4cms. He is going in front of the tumor board today to get input about what treatment. He mentioned chemo and radiation and then surgery.Wish I had told him I am an active 65 yr old play wiffle ball with my 11 and 12 yr old granddaughters and like to keep busy. On paper, I look like a hot mess, with RA, thyroid, diabetes and 10 Rxs. The good news if it can be classified as such is that it is lower than thought at first and above the junction. So he said maybe it could be resected, which my husband and I would love but right now I would not be surprised if they wanted to take it all out. I would appreciate any input you all would have about all this. After telling my family and some friends, I shut off my thinking about cancer button and watched The Stepbrothers, gross but loved Will Ferrell doing Botticelli's song at the end. Could not compute any more cancer stuff. thanks in advance,

    Surgery
    Donna,
From your explanations, the treatment of chemo/radiation, then surgery would be the way to go. Although, I am not a doctor and cannot tell you the way to go. As long as you are comfortable with your doctors, I am sure you're in good hands. I had surgery to remove my entire esophagus and had a good recovery. I wish you the best as you go through this roller coaster ride of finding out your treatment plan.

    thanks Cathy!!
    Hi Cathy,
Want to thank you for your kind response. The drs are all good so I will trust their judgement. I have been following your story too and my prayers are with you for sure. At 65 I have been very lucky so cannot have any complaints or why me's, rather have it myself than watch someone I love go thru all this. Hope is the small bird that perches in our souls and I am not going to give up, just a little shocked that the PET could say no lights in the esophagus and be that far along. thanks again!!

    PET
    Donna,
My scans also did not show how large my tumor actually was, so they went ahead with surgery and found it was stage 3. So, I guess that shows the scans don't always tell us the complete story.
