ixempra and avastin side effects

I have stage IV breast cancer and I am participating in a study where I receive ixempra and avastin once a week for three weeks, then one week off. I just finished the second round and I am having the worst week yet of side effects. I anticipated some side effects being cumulative in effect, but not stuff like diarhea, nausea, chills, stuff like that. Has anybody else experienced an increase in intensity of side effects as treatment goes along?

Hi teri77 and welcome.
Hi teri77 and welcome. Sorry for the reason that you are here, but, you will find support and encouragment from the bc survivors. I can't personally answer your questions as I didn't take those, but, someone will post and tell you their experience. Good luck to you!

Hello
Teri77, I don't have experience with either of these drugs, but I do want to welcome you to the board.
Since you are in a trial, it may be that less information about side effects is known. You might call your clinical trial nurse or coordinator or doctor. They can tell you what other participants have or are experiencing. The informed consent material for the trial may also have some info that you can ask about.
As far as my experience with TAC, fatigue increased, and loss of taste. Other side effects pretty much stayed constant or lessened through my 6 rounds of TAC.
I hope the side effects do lessen for you.0 -
Hi Teri77
I want to welcome you to the boards here. You will find so much caring support here. I have not tried this combo of drugs. Maybe one of our sisters here has and will chime in. I am sorry about the side effects. How many more treatments of this do you have left?
Good luck and God Bless,

Hi Teri
I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you as I'm still don't know if I'm having chemo or not.
I just wanted to welcome you here, you'll find great support and compassion. I'm sure someone step up and have an anwers for you soon.
Hope you're feeling better by now.
God Bless

Clinical Trial Participant
Teri - I've been trying to find someone who is also part of the same Clinical Trial of Ixempra and Avastin! I was so excited to read you posting as I now have someone to talk to who has is having the same experience. I was signed up to complete 18 treatments (6 cycles of 3 treatments), but completed 17 due to high blood pressure and neuropathy issues. Had Ixempra every week for 3 weeks and one week off. Avastin was the first and third treatment of each cycle. I didn't lose my hair, but had a lot of thinning. The tingling/numbness in my fingers and toes was the worst side effect that increased with each treatment. Now that I'm almost 3 weeks finished with the chemo, the feeling is slowly starting to go away.
How are you feeling? How has your experience been with the Ixempra/Avastin?
Look forward to hearing from you! Hope you are doing well!
