Treatment Plan: Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro...
A hearty thank you for your well wishes and prayers. Much appreciated!
I meet with my oncologist, Dr. Chan, and was told I'd be receiving chemo, radiation, Hercepin and Tamoxifen. Am scheduling for a port and other stuff. As they say, one step at a time.
Have a prescription for a wig, among other things! Might decide to go blond as I have always been a luxurious onyx, brunette! Just kidding, have to find some humor in this process.
Am encouraged by all who have been down this road and made it through the other side. I know I know I am not alone in this saga.
My best to you on your journey with cancer. Saw this on an "Oprah" magazine..." You are tougher than you think!"
God bless!
Bella Luna

You ARE tougher than you think
It really is amazing what we can do if we have to. I am glad you are taking it one step at a time, that is the only way...if you look at the whole big picture it can become quite overwhelming. I got through it doing baby steps and made it to the finish line! I am just on Herceptin now for the rest of the year.
It also sounds like you havea positive attitude. That will help immensely. You will be in my prayers and heartfelt good wishes.

Hi Jackie,
Thank you for your kind words. The process can get overwhelming as you said. Baby steps are highly recommended.
Listen, I will be on Hercepin for a year as well. How is it working for you? I hope the drug agrees with me.
God's blessings to you!

Herceptin basically has no side-effects since it does not target your good cells. I haven't heard of anyone who has had side-effects, although they do say it can be hard on your heart therefore only a year it is given. I am still tired but I'm sure that most of that is lingering effects from chemo and rads...and it is slowly getting better.
If you get a chance watch the movie LIVING PROOF it is a wonderful movie about the discovery of Herceptin and the women who were in the first trials. You will really learn alot. I thought it was going to be a documentary of sorts, but was pleasantly surprised that it is also a movie any woman with BC would love as it deals with the emotional aspects as well.

Well, with my long legs, people just naturally see me and, and as long as I am already there with my head in the clouds, I may as well give someone else a "leg up"! :-)

Many Thanks
Thank you all for your kind words. I have my treatment plan and a list of meds I will be taking as well. I do not look forward to chemo, but know that I need to move forward as my cancer is very aggressive.
Keep me in your prayers. I start chemo on Sept. 10th.
Best to all!
Fondly,
Bella Luna0
