Hey gals!

I have had some strange symptoms the past few days. It has been a week and a half since my last chemo and I am usuallly blessed to have no nauseaa.

The past three days I have been having HORRIBLE cold sweats and nausea. I talked to my gno/onc because I thought my hormones might need adjusting. I don't sleep either. He said it is a chemo thing and that I need to talk to my oncologist. I will see him for a regular bloodwork appointment tomorrow.

Does it sound hormonal or like a chemo side effect? I am miserable, so miserable I actually broke into tears at one point yesterday (and today). I am so uncomfortable and hot/cold , sweaty. Also, I threw up yesterday...for the first time.

thanks

How is your appetite? Are you able to keep food down? Is everything working ok on the other end? Sorry about all the questions! Its always best to rule things out when looking for a cause.

Hi Special, it sounds like it could be the hormonal thing but it is hard to say. Your dr will be more help than anyone here for this one I think. Let us know what he says.

    HANG IN THERE!
Remember that chemo is cumulative, so you may experience increasing symptoms. Hopefully, all the pre-meds and post-meds they give you can be helpful, or maybe increased if necessary. Unfortunately, the chemo brings a whole bunch of side affects, and we never know how we will personally react until it happens. There's no doubt that there's more than the obvious side affects, but to our hormones and our whole body.

It was difficult for me to sleep, due to the steroids, chemo, neuropathy, etc., etc. Sometimes, even at 2 or 3 in the morning I'd run a very warm/hot bath and soak in it. It helped my achy body and it relaxed me. I always enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa, from scratch with real milk and baking cocoa. The tryptophan and nutrients in the milk and cocoa always helped me to sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that much while on chemo.

I can offer some other tips when you find out exactly what this is all about. Take heart - it will get better.

Sending lots of HUGS and PRAYERS!

This darn chemo thing is so hard to go through, and the side affects really stink. I understand the crying at the frustration of it all and can empathize with you.

I had the same symptoms you're describing when I was on carbo/taxol, I had to change my nightgown during the night the sweats were so bad.

I also had bad n/v and the pre med IV before my chemo infusion did help. I took a Zofran every 5 hours, around the clock for 3 days and that really worked well for me.

I hope you get relief and your doctor can help you.

    I hope you feel better,

    sweats
Those sweats too are from having a hysterectomy. Just removing our ovaries puts us into instant menopause. Lack of estrogen makes chemo, and everything else just a little more difficult.

And then most of us can't take anything to help that either with the cancer.............

It is rough but so good to have each other to talk to............

    Hi Special
I have not been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and hope not to be after investigation is done but I do know chemo as I am a 20 year surivor of non hodgkins lymphoma.

I did not have a big problem with the first one or two chemos but did after that. It's like an accumulation or constant assault on your body finally weakens it. I had extreme sleeplessness too and it turned out, for me, that the chemo was affecting my hormones and I in fact was thrown into premature menopause. Now that was 20 years ago, I don't know if that still happens, but it was quite common back then. Hence the sweating and sleeplessness and being ornary.

If this does happen and I don't know your age and if you have been through menopause yourself already but I wasnt and you sound like you are having the same exact symptoms as me and that was the diagnosis, premature menopause brought on by chemo. I was put on hormone replacement and all righted itself in no time. The test for menopause is a simple blood test so ask your docs to do that. Now as I said I am not an ovarian cancer survivor so perhaps it could be something to do with that but oh boy your symptoms sound sooooooooooooo familiar. Good luck and keep us posted. Hugs, Bluerose
