How to Deal with Cancer Doctors and Staff
My sister and I have just started the process of calling one doctor to another for our big sis whose cancer just returned. She spent an entire day just talking to nurses and trying to get them to overnight pathology slides to MD Anderson. My goodness some of these people make it hard not to yell. Our close family friend in his 70s has came up with a good word for these people: ignoranus - one who is both ignorant and an a-hole (excuse the lang.).
So, we've decided that there really should be a self-help book for beginners fighting cancer....and doctor's offices.
Good news is that my sister starts radiation on Friday and after that chemo. Her gyn/onc finally got all her different doctors talking to him (including a specialist from MD Anderson) and radiation is the way to go.
We know we are in for a long battle, but it gives us great joy that the fight has begun!0 -

I think a beginners book for fighting cancer is an excellent idea!
May God Bless you, your family and especially your sister. Sending good thoughts and strength her way for the battle she is beginning.
Is she going to receive her treatment at MD Anderson? I have heard that they have an excellent cancer treatment program there.
Your sister has plenty of soldiers standing behind her.
In my thoughts and prayers,

She is not going to MD Anderson at this time; they are looking at her pathology slides as to why this low grade uterine cancer (stage 1b, grade 2) is acting so strangely. But her doctor did consult with Dr. Pedro Ramirez (uterine cancer specialist at Anderson) on a treatment plan for her and they all agreed that radiation is the first step and needs to start now! She is candidate for one of their clinical trails, but that will come later.
After her radiation treatment (25! Yikes) she will come to Dallas for her chemo. She can stay with our parents, but my two other sisters and I can help take care of her (our parents are 80). My sister that lives with her in El Paso has a handicapped son that requires lots of her time and right now she is juggling both his appointments and my sister’s.
We are all staying very up beat for ourselves and for our parents, but I really find mornings hard.....0 -
