Chat Woes

I need help getting on the Chat Room. I haven't been on since before Christmas. I finally scraped up the money ($150) and had the whole thing into the shop to be stripped and re-loaded. I have the latest Java now, all the updates for Windows, and I saw the Chat room (once) working last week when the computer was still at the shop. Now it is home and not working. I tried downloading a different browser under the idea that maybe something in Internet Explorer wasn't working, but that didn't work either. My internet provider service used my ID and PW today and managed to get on. But I can't get it either on my hubbies oldie or my fairly new computer with all new updates and everything! I do have dial-up, which is slow, but all my other computer apps seem to be working okay. I used to have such comfort talking to everyone, but now I can't get on and am very frustrated. I sent an email to the webmaster, but no response yet. Can anyone here tell me what to check or uncheck to get back on? And before you tell me to do anything, I have tried loading after disabling the firewall, making the Chat Room an exception, and emptying all temporary files several times. What else should I try.

One thing I know for a
One thing I know for a certainty; is is 99.9% NOT your fault or the fault of your computer~ the trouble is with the chatroom itself! It is a work in progress, and ACS/CSN is trying to remedy the problems inherent with that particular room. Sometimes you will get in, sometimes you won't,and it seems the won't get in times are getting more and more frequent. Half the time, when I get part of the way there, I get the " if you don't connect in 10 seconds, click here" only there is no "here" to click! So, it is frustrating for many of us.

Maybe someone can prove me wrong and help BOTH of us to get into chat~ that would be awesome!

    Hugs,

    Chen♥

    Thanks!
Thanks for the encouragement. I still want to get in and I think something checked (or unchecked is blocking me). I have never found a button to push if it takes more than 10 seconds. In fact, even when it did work, it took at least a minute and a half to load up. But that would be better than what I have now.

    Sometimes the chat room
Sometimes the chat room works, and, sometimes not. Just keep trying. Does it show that your java is loading? It should show that at least.

    Java works, Chat doesn't
The Java shows that it is loading. When it quits, there is about a 2 minute wait. Then the error message comes up. I have tried literally hundreds of times to get in with no luck since last year. I have no idea what to try next.

What error message? It does take a little bit after it finishes loading. Keep trying is all I can say. They are having some trouble with it, but, you should get in sometime. Email Greta @ CSN and let her know.

    Not in yet
I have tried 9 times today so far with no luck. I wait long after the Java sign quits circling and the error message comes up --every time! I still need help and have no idea what to check or uncheck so this thing goes back to working.

    cabbot...
I had exactly the same issue you are describing for months. I tried all the things you have tried and soccerfreaks even tried to help me, contacting acs in my behalf and telling me different things I could try. Nothing. I was on dial-up at the time as well.
Then I got satellite internet (much faster than dial-up, but not perfect), and TA!DA!, suddenly I am back in chat. Was even able to connect on my old dial-up a time or two before I disconnected it for good.
So, I am suggesting that, given the problems others above had noted with the chat server, as well as the slowness of dial-up, it is a double-whammy. Hopefully, when (if) csn ever really gets its act together with the proper chat formula, we will all be able to get in, regardless of what internet connection we use.
Anyhow, I know your frustration and I hope resolution comes soon. We miss you in chat. Keep in touch here for the time being, ok?
    God bless.

    Still trying
I tried today with the Norton antivirus disabled and it still didn't work, so it wasn't that. My son suggests that I take the computer somewhere with high speed and try it out again just to confirm it is the slow dial-up that is making it not load up. Strange, I used to be able to get on. I wish I still could. I miss talking to folks...

I had that problem for a long time and although I had java, it wasn't enabled. And for the life of me I can't remember how it got fixed, but I will try and remember and let you know. But I did want to let you know if you have cellular service in your area you can get high speed internet through that. I wish I had known that before we got satellite as the cell internet is about 20$ cheaper/month without the hundreds of dollars in set up fees.

    Error Message
    Here's exactly what I get:

    ... 7 more
    Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.diginet.digichat.client.DigiChatApplet

I have tried updating the java and according to the Java website everything is working. I have dumped all temporary files in the web cache and in the Java cache each several times. No change.

We tried disabling the Norton Autoprotect, no change.

We made sure that Java is checked under tool options so it is being used.

However, DigiChat is not being reached. That's the tool apparently that the ACS chatroom uses. I used to be able to get on but it has been months. My server provider tried using my ID and PW and was able to get on immediately from his computer. I saw it work once in the shop on my computer, but that was before they did the final updates. I don't know if it is just the speed of dial-up (45.2 Kbs) or if something is still checked or unchecked and therefore won't work. This is really frustrating.

    Thanks for hearing me vent!

It isn't your dial up. I
It isn't your dial up. I have Java 6.0.150, that is the latest version. Maybe, you need to update your flash player? Your antivirus wouldn't affect it. It is something on your computer that isn't right. Maybe, there is a separate java plug in that you don't have downloaded.

    Still Not On Chat
Is a flash player used for Chat? What other plugs are there on java that I need? I'm sure one of our group has XP and knows. Please help!
