first taxol treatment on mon.

Hi Steff
Looks like I am just a little behind you. I have my last a/c treatment next friday and I for one will be happy to be done with it.
I think you are more anxious about the taxol because you dont know how you will feel on it. As bad as ac is we pretty much have a pattern and know how our bodies will react. We need to start relearning everything again.
From what everyone has told me here though, the taxol is much easier to do than the a/c so I feel a little better to be switching to that.
Let me know how you do. I will be starting taxol/herceptin in 3 wks
Hugs

I have my last Ac in 2 weeks. I am also scared of the change in drugs, but I was told it should be easier on the system. I will have then taxol for 12 weeks every week. No shots needed.0 -
Have taken 3 Taxol treatments
I think the Taxol is much easier. I have had 3 and my side affects have been still lack of energy, sore glands which go away after day 4 and pain in joints and tingling of hands. All in all - much easier on you. Hope you do fine.0 -

I will let you know after Mon. How did you do with the AC? I was tired for like 2-3 days and many foods just didnt appeal to me. I feel like I have been lucky and I hope the taxol is
easier.

I have had my 12 Taxol treatments and it was easier than the A/C. I did not have to take any anti-nausea meds while on the Taxol.
Some people have had their hair start to grow back while on Taxol and I was one of them.

I had a double mastectomy with tissue expanders on 2/2/09 my 45th birthday--what a celebration--out with the old and in with the new---sorry to some--just my sense of humor.
I will not need radiation.
I had A/C treatments once every 2 weeks for 4 treatments then I just finished Taxol w/Herceptin once a week for 12 wks and then Friday I will start my Herceptin treatment once every 3 weeks for 1 year.
I never lost my appetite. Never lost any weight. Never got sick. Continued to work 40 hrs a week except for the few hours I took off for my treatment. After treatment finished I did have to take 3 hrs off because the office was too hot and was sick to my stomach but never threw up.
Some say to eat bland stuff but I needed to taste my food so I liked spicy food and just took antacids for that. I had cravings for beer and chocolate--not at the same time--chocolate at work and then at home beer.
I wasn't tired or didn't think I was--I am raising a 6 year old son by myself--very active. Worked full time. I did crash at night when I went to bed--didn't hear a thing. I would go to bed when my son did at 8pm but I would get up at 4am so I could have some 'ME' time--whether it be watching the morning news or on the computer.
Hope this all helps you.

If you've gone through AC ... you'll find that taxol is a breeze. Really. I didn't have AC but I had 12 weekly treatments of taxol/herceptin ... and NEVER had any nausea. The few side-effects I did have were very manageable. You've already gone through the tough stuff ... so you'll do great with the taxol treatments.
hugs.

Stephanie,
I don't know where the energy came from--I did sleep like a log at night between the hot flashes and night sweats. I would sometime get tired at work after lunch but then would get a second wind. I did go to bed early 8pm when Jake did. Slept later on some weekends.
The only beer now that i can drink is Corona--it doesn't leave an after taste in my mouth.
As for house chores--I found doing everything in one day was very hard and tired myself out. So I made a chart and would dust the living room and dining room on day and then the next day would do my bedroom and Jake's bedroom, I would clean on bathroom another and then the other bathroom the next day I would vacuum the house on another. That was my trick so I would not tire so much that I couldn't do things with Jake.
Tips are always helpful to everyone.
Hugs,
