Got my 'post-treatment' TESTS schedule; my 'no doctoring' break is about over.
This FRIDAY I will have my 1st post-treatment CT-scan. I have that tiny 2.7mm lung nodule that showed up on my April scan that my chemo and radiation oncologists both say is nothing, but that was noted by the doctor who read the scan as something to keep an eye on. This will be the 1st scan that looks at that. Little scary, but I am trying to not give into that anxiety.
Then on August 11th I have my routine post-radiation appointment with the radiation oncologist, and I'm guessing that they will wait until then to give me my scan results. Otherwise I can't even imagine what this visit will accomplish; it is just routine follow-up they always do.
They also made an appointment with the hospital's new Gynecologic Oncologist for a PAP test and pelvic exam August 17th. (The wonderful gyn-onc that did my surgery is 2 hours away from here and 'out of network' for my insurance, so I am going to see if this gyn-onc would be someone I feel good about using. This would save me a lot of $$ and puts my whole 'oncology team' at the same facility.)
My chemo oncologist was supposed to be my 'primary' physician for follow-up and yet I have no appointment yet with him, but he is the one that ordered the CT-Scan, so there may be another appointment coming up with him.
So my 'no doctoring' break is about to be over. But I sure made the most of this free month!!

So happy that you enjoyed your break!
Linda,
I am so happy for you that you have enjoyed your break. Please continue to "make the most" of your time (I know you will), even though the doctoring begins again. You are such a strong lady and an inspiration to everyone on here. I am so glad that I found this board and my friends here!
I hope that you like the new oncologist, that must be a little anxiety provoking. I know how scary that upcoming scan is. I pray that you will have peace through this process! Good luck and keep us posted.
Love and hugs,

What time is your CAT scan Friday. I have to be at mine at 9:00 and the scan is at 10:30. Not looking forward to drinking that nasty stuff!
It's nice to enjoy the break of the doctors isn't it. I pray you will be and stay NED and enjoy many more breaks.
MIND, BODY AND SOUL!

I have to have my scan when the IV Team is available since they have such trouble getting the needle in for the contrast, so my scan needs to be in the afternoon. My DIL is a Ct-scan technician and stypically starts work at 3PM Fridays, but is coming in early at 2:30 to do my scan, so that also was part of the reason for the late scan. Afternoon CT-scans are lousy because you have to fast 8 hours before a scan, so it's best to SLEEP through those fasting hours. I'll be starving by the time my scan is done! I'll be thinkng of you, Marge. We sure have 'held hands' through a lot of this, haven't we? What would I do without you guys?? BIG HUGS!0 -

Good luck on your CT scan. My repeat Pet scan last month showed the lung nodule of 15 X 11 mm has not changed in size in 6 months and still does not demonstrate metabolic activity. Therefore they will keep an eye on it and does not need to be treated or biopsied. My prayers are with you.0 -

Just wanted to drop in a minute and let you know I was given an all clear today on my first 6 month scan. My CA125 went up from 8 to 11, but no new changes on the CAT scan. For those of you who I have not met I will remind you that I was dx Oct 06. UPSC. It was a rough road just as you all know first hand, but this Oct will be my 3rd year. You can do it too. It would be so good to hear from other 'longer' term survivors or thrivers!! You are in my prays.0 -

So glad to hear your scan was good. I am glad you dropped in to share! Hope things are going okay with Garth and the family. 3 years... God is good! CA 125 of 11 is still normal too. Take care.
Marge and Linda, saying extra prayer that your scans will be good on Friday. That drink is very icky and I think it gets worse every time! LOL. I think they should make it taste like a chocolate shake or something yummy like that. I certainly am glad we all found each other hear. You have made this lonely journey, not so lonely! It is so nice to feel understood, isn't it? All good thoughts for Friday.
Still no word from the doc. Hoping no news is good news. ;~)

Linda's Friday Scan
Linda, I just wanted to send best wishes for a favorable scan.
I was just looking at that wonderful photo of you and your grand-daughter on the beach. You look so incredibly happy and relaxed. All the sunshine on you and in your heart from that break can't help but contribute to a scan free of any sign of cancer. Keep the faith. See your long and pleasant future in your thoughts.
Thinking of you and all the fantastic help and inspiration you have been to everyone here.
Your well being is truly in my heart, you mean a lot to me and us all. Thank you.
As always, love, health and hope to us all,

It was wonderful to hear your news. 3 years of dancing with NED is so wonderful to hear. Hope Garth is feeling better and Jo is having a good summer. We miss hearing from you, but we know life goes on after treatments. Hope things continue to improve for you and your family. In peace and caring. HUGS to you.0 -

The place I go for my CT scan said I could bring 32 ounces of a beverage to mix the CT contrast in, if I wanted. When I went the last time the flavor of the day was Chrystal Light Raspberry. The time before that it was Lemonade. If you don't like the taste, maybe you could ask about bringing in something to mix the contrast in.
Good luck Marge and Linda on your scans on Friday. Hope you both get good news. In peace and caring. HUGS to you.0 -

They use the Crystal Light Lemonade where I go and I am not a big fan of Lemonade! Maybe if I bring in a different flavor they will let me use it. Thanks for the fantastic idea. I don't a chocolate shake would be an option though, huh?! LOL.0 -

Six months is such a long time between scans, and I'll bet you were a little nervous about your results because of the extra 3 months between scans. But, WOO WOO!! All is WELL!!! As you dance on and on these next 6 months before your check-up, you'll be less worried next time. And what a long and lovely break to simply forget about cancer and just live live LIVE!
I'm just sooo happy for you. You were there for me since Day One, Peggy, and you continue to be my example of HOPE. I hope you know how much you mean to me. 3 years NED. That's so wonderful!0 -

Thanks for the encouragement, Peggy. I'm curious: Are you the longest survivor of UPSC here???
