im confussed need your help??

I am so annoyed at this time doctor told me 2 take 4 treatments then I could get on the pill.. I am only taking these treatments as a precaution. I had no trace of cancer after my surgery and through all the ct scans.. I hate the fact now since im to the end the doctor is telling me now I cant take the pill and I need to take 6 treatments instead.. Oh my hopes were so high and I feel like I wanna scream.. Can anyone tell me what I should do I really need your help..

    I am a novice at this, but I would say that you need to go back to your doctor & ask why there has been a change in your treatment. If you are not comfortable going alone, get someone to go with you. Good luck whatever you do! Let us know!

    Hi, Brenda, I'm sorry you've had a curveball thrown at you just when your treatments were ending. I agree with Tux that you should ask your oncologist why he/she abruptly changed the treatment. Why the two extra treatments? Why not the pill (herceptin or hormonal)?

    I think you need more information as soon as you can get it. Make sure your doctor explains to your satisfaction. I wish I could tell you more, but you need the specific info and opinion directly from your oncologist. Please let us know what you find out.

    i asked
    he wants me to take the 6 treatments because i cannot take the pill i have estrigen and the pill wouldnt work.. so the 2 extra treatments would put me free and clear.. i take herceptin too every week and that will continue every 3 weeks from then on.. i was told 12 weeks with the chemo which is 4 rounds.. herceptin 52 weeks.. im going back to him next thursday hopefully will get better answers.. thank you so much for your help i really appreciate it..

    yes i felt like i was getting tossed around.. just was so upset when he says im clean at this point.. the type of cancer i had was aggressive and invasive and it runs in my family it could come back if i didnt do it to keep it out.. but the hard part was getting through this and take the pill as he told me and now at the end and he changes it. pretty rotten to hear. i wanna thank you for your help and i will look forward into this cause im not giving up im gonna fight this with my life.. thanks again

    Yes,it is hard to understand the oncs sometimes. I hope you get some good answers the next time you have an appointment!

    Sorry you have to have extra chemo. I was double negative, so I could not take the pill and had to have 6 rounds of chemo and 6 weeks of rads. But now they are done and I do not take any medication for the beast at all. I am going to ask my oncologist next Friday if there is anything more we can do to make sure it stays away, but I don't think there is any pill I can take. Good luck and sorry about the curve ball.

    im sorry didnt think i explained it clearly.. im just so disappointed.. i was told from the start of treatments 12 weeks with chemo and 52 weeks with herceptin.. told me he would put me on the pill soon as im done with the 4th treatment.. now he says that cant happen i cant take the pill i have estrigen and it want work.. he said so i want you to take 2 more treatments so you will be done.. im so confussed!! i am told i have no trace in my body since the masetomy and im fighting this as i was told going through this horrible stuff and dealing with it as hard as i can .. oh the pill is hormone i think.. he told me there was a chemo pill out i could take after treatments.. guess thats why im so confussed.. thank you for your reply..

    thanks for your information.. he told me i couldnt take the hormone pill cause i had estrigen in my body.. i understand that part. he said when i take the last 2 treatments im not gonna have to take anything either.. thanks im so glad to hear you are done and dont have to take anything that makes my decision so much easier.. thanks again!!!

    Is this pill called Tamoxafin?? Tell your doctor you don't understand.

    Brenda, were you suppose to
    Brenda, were you suppose to take tamoxifen? Is that the pill you are talking about? Or, do you mean a hormone pill full of estrogen, for women that go thru menopause?
