Queen of the Night

Well.... what can I say, I starred into space the last week and went back to surgery again yesterday. Interestingly enough,at the same time, our "Night Blooming Cirrus", also called "Queen of the Night", (Cactus) was blooming while I was in my quandry about surgery. It sort of woke me up to the fact, that this particular cactus only blooms 1 night when the moon is positioned at the right angle, and the monsoons are coming in closer. I almost missed it!! Kind of like I am missing all of you, and the beautiful things that matter the most...

Surgery was uneventful, lymph nodes removed, drain in place, path report later..... ya, ya ya ya.....Anyway wanted to get that attitude of graditude back, and say hello, and that I missed you all... Thanks for being here for me/us......

    Glad your surgery went well and I love what you said about the Night Blooming Cirrus. I used to have one of those plants and I called it "the plant only its mother could love" because it was so ugly. The leaves, stems, branches just go all over the place and it just isn't a pretty plant. But then I saw it bloom ... and oh my gosh. It was beautiful. The flower. The plant was still ugly ... but it produced such beauty. Guess there's a lesson in there somewhere ... like you can't judge a book by its cover ... or something ... but thank you for bringing back the memory of seeing that flower ... once. That was the one and only time I ever saw it bloom... but it was worth the wait.

    What a Blessing !
    Had you not been up because you were worried about your surgery, you would have missed the blooming! You can recover from your lack of sleep, but can not replay that particular moment of seeing such beauty. Maybe the Lord was trying to tell you that although you may not be the same on the outside, inside is beauty that will be shown for all to see.
    I have about 100 feet of hedges in my backyard that bloom every year on my Birthday. My husband not realizing this (I do all the yard work!) trimmed the hedges two days before my Birthday and cut all the buds off! He use to take two flowers and a toothpick and make me a ballerina every year. I caught him looking this year and scratching his head, probably wondering why he did not have a flower to make my little girl. He apologized to me that they didn't bloom this year (I didn't have the heart to tell him he cut them all off!). Later that evening, just before dark, low and behold, in the very corner, on the ground where you would least expect it, was the most beautiful purple shaded flower. It actually grew from the hedge root!! And still bloomed for my Birthday. He picked it up and said "well, I can't make you a whole girl, but it's still just as beautiful the way it is"!! I understood the true meaning behind those words.
    So glad you made it through your surgery and you are home resting. Continue to rest and take care of yourself. Keep us posted. :(-) Pammy

    That was such a beautiful thought about the beauty inside. It brought tears to my eyes. ANd the one lone blossom for your birthday. It was wonderful how your hubby related it to you and that you are beautiful just the way you are. A good man is indeed worth his weigh in gold.

    My hubby uses Hollyhocks!
    As you all know, if you look at my Expressions Page, I love flowers, always have and always will. And, I have always grown hollyhocks because they are just such a pretty old time flower that look so good against a building.

    So, every year, when they first start to bloom, I will notice in one of the bird baths, hollyhocks with toothpicks in them, for ballerinas, floating around, almost dancing.

    This has been an every year occurence for us, for over 36 years! He has never forgotten to do this for me!

    What can i say
    but to everyone, beautiful replies. Thats why i love this board. Im glad the surgery is over and get some rest now. What a true blessing god brought to you.
