Went in today for another blood test hoping that counts went up from Saturday - well they went down further. My platelet count did go up another 40 points in two days, but the Neutrophil dropped further. They gave me a shot that I need to start taking daily after being disconnected. There is a shot that you only need one of instead of the 10 days, but, of course, my insurance doesn't cover it. I go back tomorrow to get another shot, then go back on Wednesday to have more blood tests. Just wish the clinic was a little closer. Think hubby is going to have to learn how to give me shots - yikes. Hope he still loves me LOL :)

Sorry it did not go well this time...maybe things will rebound on the next go round.

Glad the platelets went up though - please keep me in the loop on those - I am very curious on how you respond as the Oxy treatment continues. The ability for the platelets to rebound and build back up is a subject that interests me. I'm hoping you do well there.

    I'm pulling for you.

    Gonna start a thread but....
Kim, a gal (age 64) on another forum has the same complaint and they have tested her for an enzyme problem. I need to look up the name but look for a thread with two giant D words.

Sorry this is happening to you!

Kim- I had the WBC building
Kim- I had the WBC building shots, think it was after I tanked out after treatment #1. The good thing is they do work, mine count was like doubled from them and I only needed them the one time. Although it was a few days in a row. And toward the end of treatments I was getting fluids every other day- and I was glad I am less than a mile from my oncologist!

    You're too Kind
Awww I know hubby feels that way too, but wow this would be a good way to stick me (pun intended) the wrong way. I just don't think I can give myself a shot. I'm too much of a squeamish person, but yet I can watch the Texas Chain Saw Massacre - go figure. LOL

Kim, I have been watching John's bloodwork and it seems to go up and down. His onc has even got approval for the drugs he will need if his counts drop more. It is good that your platelets have gone up.I started John taking more vitamin supplements and his blood work has improved a bit. I don't no if that could help you or not. Maybe ask when you get your blood work done next. Some doc's won't get into supplements with you. As for your hubby giving you shots, he will do fine. My husband had to give me shots for years. He would make jokes like "you better be nice to me today you no it's shot night". Good luck on your next blood test. Paula G.

    Thanks
I just went into the clinic for my second shot today. I'm going to get blood test tomorrow and see if Chemo is back on. Let's hope so. They tried to show my husband how to do it. I am taking it in my arm since I had a resection and an ileostomy and I just don't want more going down in the abdomen area than necessary. I did find out that I cannot give myself a shot in the arm though since you have to pinch the skin. I think he is going to be nervous with this. My daughter from the Army is coming in next week so I will let her do it while shes here, maybe she can show him a trick or two. I am not allowed to take any supplements whatsoever escept a multi vitamin and calcium and I also take B6 for neuropathy. Good luck to your husband, delayed chemo throws your schedule off and seems to make the chemo last that much longer.
