Swollen feet and body aches

You know as far as the swollen feet and legs, elevation helps and watching your salt intake helps. Sometimes legs and feet swell more in the summer. Maybe you need to inc the lasix but dont know what dose youre taking.

That being said...cancer diagnosis and side effects from chemo change everything so really your doctor needs to be called for advice.

Cant really help you with the body aches...ever tried yoga? You can get a dvd and pop it in and sometimes some easy stretching will actually help aches and pains. Also dont give up light exercise...sometimes being down with aches and pains is actually worse for you than trying to keep moving gently.

Hi Darlene, I'm a 7 yr. survivor and still deal with this issue. I'm not sure anyone knows what caused it, but no one seems to agree. I've tried Lasix a couple of times, but I don't like the possible effect on my kidneys so I haven't taken it long term, but it wasn't really effective. I've had several Echo's to prove my heart is fine over the years. I don't use salt but I don't believe that's the problem. My personal belief is that it was chemo and the use of Decadron during treatment.
I treat it as a lymph fluid issue and know that if I'm on my feet a lot I will spend some time in the recliner the next day with my feet elevated. Strange as it may seem I finally saw an accupunturist who helped me more than anyone. Not everyone's cup of tea but it sure helped. I was stg. IIIb so I had 10 rounds of chemo and I've been on Femera for over 5 yrs. now. We are our own best researchers. Find what works for you. Good luck.

Ask your oncologist about being fitted for support hose. They have the ted hose which they use right after surgery that may help a little or they have other compression hose which the doctor specifically orders compression to help the swelling. Those fit tighter and are a little more pricey.

Occupational therapists also teach lymphedema massage to the legs if thats what it is.

I am having the same problem
I am having the same problem but only after two t/c treatments and going for a third on Thursday. I will see my onc on Thursday as well and plan on asking him what to do. I'll let you know. Have pins and needles feeling in both hands and feet as well. I mentioned to chemo nurse during last treatment and she said it was too early for neuropothy. Did not like that answer very much, who says it to early for me... everyone is different in how they react to treatments! Can you tell I'm a little miffed!

YEA on finishing chemo. BOO on the swelling. Call your oncologist, but, it is probably due to the chemo. You can after effects from chemo for years.

I had just one swollen ankle/leg/foot ... and the minute I mentioned it to my oncologist he sent me for a test (forgot the name of it ... chemo brain strikes again!) ... just to be sure there wasn't a blood clot. There wasn't ... but he suggested keeping it elevated as much as I could (at work I propped it on the computer drive thing on sitting on the floor under my desk). He also suggested support stocking so I went to a medical supply place and found some knee-hi support hose... in "nude." Not those white TED hose things. The knee-hi's worked great ... they gave support but didn't cut the circulation off ... and I liked the fact that they came in "nude."
