Proud of my son today

I was so proud of my son today. It was his graduation from radiation therapy school. He asked me to pin him at the ceremony! While we were at the hospital, he showed us around the treatment rooms and told us more about his work. As I stood there and looked at all that equipment, I said a prayer of gratitude that my cancer was caught early, and I haven't had to endure radiation. I also thought about of my friends here who have had to go through so much. My wish for all of y'all is that when you're in the midst of it all, you will have as caring a therapist as Matt is.

    ....well I'd be darned proud of him as well! what a great career he got into! I know you're just beaming from ear to ear with a huge smile! Congratulations and give him some hugs as well as yourself! I'm so happy for you!

    I can feel how proud you are, what a great day for you and your family. Thanks to Matt as well because your right we need all the caring therapist we can get. I am sure you raised him very well. Wish him luck in his new future for me.

    i know how you feel. my daughter dana is in school for nursing. while i was in the hospital i think she watched all the action going on and wanted to do this.
    she will graduate in jan.

    Congratulations on your sons graduation,I had to go through radiation,and a good,caring therapist is worth their weight in gold.I'm sure your son will be one of the best.Best wishes

    You have every reason to be proud. What a wonderful field your son has chosen to go into. When I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2004, my eldest son was only a sophmore in highschool and I was so afraid I wouldn't be around to see him graduate. Five years later, he's a senior at Vanderbilt University (currently studying abroad at the University of Melbourne in Australia. He has also chosen to go into the field of radiation upon graduation. He became interested in the field while I was having such a tough time with radiation in 2004. This summer he did a 10 week research internship at Vandy and is hopeful some of his work will be published. He says they are working on many exciting new advances in the field. My son is a physics and math major and plans on going to graduate school for medical physics. As you can tell, I'm very proud of my son as well. He's the one in the middle of my photo. I guess you can tell I miss him being so far from home. Anyway, a big kudos to you and your son!!!!
