Breast Pain in left, 10 year survivor so a little nervous headed for a MRI
I had pain that stings and shoots from the side of the left breast not all the time; I went for an mammogram that led me to an ultra sound. they saw a cluster of cysts and I said I have discomfort underneath my arm that radiates the left side and someone said don't worry it is pre-menapause. Please those who found cancer this way be honest with me and tell if you experienced this then found it was cancer. Trust me I can take it because I did have cancer before. thank you

I hope you dont have a return of your cancer. I had a tumor in my left breast and discomfort and pain in my left under arm area. A lot of people have no pain with their symptoms, so its hard to say. I will pray that yours comes out clean. Keep me posted.

I had no pain. They found mine as microcalcifications on a mammogram. Then, I had an ultrasound guided core biopsy which confirmed it was cancer. If you don't like what you are hearing, seek a 2nd opinion. Good luck!0 -
Hi mgray
Everyone is different. My first 7 lumpectomies were half and half. Some I had pain with, others I did not. All of them were benign. This one being #8 was the first malignant with NO pain. I have always had shooting pains from the very first surgery. I think it is always scar tissue braeking up. Hope it turns out to be nothing for you. Pammy0 -

Hi I can imagine how you
Hi I can imagine how you feel being a 10 year survivor, I am a 7 year survivor and everything that happens is a huge scare, had a biopsy a month ago and it was clear. My original tumor did hurt, it hurt to touch, it was 8cm and when the chemo was working to shrink it I seriously could feel it shrink, it was truly amazing. So everyone has a different experience. Keep us posted, I pray that it isn't anything.0 -

Honest
mgray,
I will be honest with you because you asked and, that is how I cope best. "Level with me, give me worst case scenario, I'll mentally gear and, if it's better, I'll back the truck up from there & count my blessings". So....
I have "felt" my cancer from the get-go. Right breast, node involvement. I have felt it in the areas of the cancer in the breast, as well as the arm pit node area. By the time I had an actual diagnosis and began my first rounds of treatment, "feeling" my cancer was prevalent throughout the day. This gradually declined as I went through my first few rounds of chemo on A/C and at my 3 month report, it appears my cancer has responded to the chemo. But, I definitely felt it. It was there, it was real and frankly, it freaked me out.
That said, I have not been diagnosed in my left breast, and (although less frequent), I do have the same discomfort/sensation in my left breast & arm pit. It's difficult to describe the sensation but I can tell you it is the same as the right side with a cancer diagnosis. Interestingly, this has also gradually declined throughout treatment and I rarely have the sensation in either side right now.
It's important to note, I have new lumps appear & disappear monthly within both breasts, and have for years. I am guessing they are hormonal and, for the most part, harmless.
The only other sensation I have is a sharp pain, deeper (almost a feeling of being in my lung or wall) on my right (cancer) side. That sensation is random but was not initial and appeared somewhere around mid-point of my treatments.
All that to say, it could be entirely harmless (as in my left breast) or, it could be something that needs further investigation/attention. YOU ARE A CANCER SURVIVOR. 10 years!!! I would suggest that you trust your gut. If it doesn't seem right, or you are unsettled, allow your survivor instincts to kick in and get opinions or testing until you have something solid that you can wrap your hands around. For me, I have found uncertainty is a gray area of danger for the mind & overall health...especially for a "level with me" personality type. I can live more with the truth than I can an uncertain mind running wild.
I wish you the very, very best and will pray for you.

Good luck with your MRI
Good luck with your MRI mgray. Please let us know how you are feeling now and what the test shows. One hint, you don't have to wait the amount of days to hear the results of any test. Just keep calling your oncologist. I got my MRI results the very next morning. I called the tech that did the MRI and she guaranteed me that my oncologist would have them in the morning.
Post when you can and update us!
