Nautral healing or traditional meds?

I am getting some gruff from a few friends that say I should try and heal myself from this dis-ease instead of using tradtional medicine. I have a background in Reiki (ray-kee) and work with universal healing energy daily, however, I do not feel that I could heal myself. Lousie Hay's movie has been recommended? Any thoughts on this? Natural or traditional? I find out today who my oncologist is going to be and when I have that appointment.

Hope you all have a great day today!
Love and Light,
Vicki

    Hi Reikigemgirl
Think about it- chemo is tried and proven. Is natural?

I had a friend who tried natural and ended up on chemo because it spread.

    Just a thought

    Hello
I agree with Jadie! I have heard of people who have tried to heal naturally and have not had a good outcome. But to each their own way is best for them. Hugs and Good luck with whatever you choose. Diane :)

I don't know about not using
I don't know about not using the Meds that are recomended, but I did just post about something that is to help push the chemo through, except no one seems to have heard of it. Its called AHCC. I have read about it, but am going to check with my onc ans see what she has to say. Its sounds pretty good. Will see

    Hi Vicki......
I have a friend who spent a year doing the holistic approach. If I did what she did, I wouldn't make it past the first day!! She was very diligent with her approach. However, 1 year later she had to give in. She is now doing both conventional and holistic as a compliment. But you must work with your Doctors. They expect her to live a natural life out. So my opinion is that I believe the two can work together, but with limitations. Good luck in your decision. :) Pammy

I don't want to sound judgmental here, but your friends need to let YOU decide what is best for you. The boards here are filled with people who are on, or have been on chemo. I don't believe (out of hundreds read) that I've come across a post where someone is just doing holistic/alternative, although I think I recall a post that referred to someone and it didn't turn out so well.

When I was diagnosed, one of the silver linings I found initially was that it was BC... There has been SO much research and progress in our type of cancer. I felt blessed to have such a selection of treatment options for my onco to choose from.

This is about your life. Saving your life, Sweetie!

Just a thought, or two, or three!!
Well, many of us have used natural remedies as a SUPPLEMENT to the conventional treatment we receive. Acupuncture, acupressure, REIKI massage (!!) and the like can of course be used in conjuction with what our oncologists prescribe. We keep them informed, and oftetimes we can work in concert with these two types of therapy. What comes to my mind with the word Natural is this: There is NOTHING natural, or normal about cancer~ so why fight it exclusively with natural things? Of course there are always success stories on any side of most any equation; that is no surprise at all. From cancer cures, to wrinkle creams, to weight loss, there is a success to be heard. I have bought some of those wrinkle creams~and guess what? I still have and am getting wrinkles! LOL I would love to think that massage, or prayer, or apricot pits, or coffee enemas, or whatever is out there could actually eliminate not just cancer, but chemotherapy and radiation, and maybe even surgery itself. At this juncture, even with testimonials from those relatively few people, I don't have the confidence that natural alone is enough. I also honestly believe that my Drs and RNs would LOVE an end of cancer~ that they don't rub their hands with glee that they are getting even wealthier at my expense. Because, they treat THEIR OWN FAMILIES with the same drugs they have given me...and I don't for a minute think they would do this for ill-gotten gains. They want me to be well and cancer-free, as do the drug companies.

Sorry to ramble, but you did ask for our thoughts on this, and you just got mine! LOL LOL

    Hugs,

    Your body, your decision
    Vicki,

I personally believe in conventional medicine and drugs, but I think the more important point is the one KC made: This is YOUR body, YOUR decision.

I took SO much s**t from friends for not getting 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinions, for choosing chemo when it's optional for me, for not trying holistic approaches, for not...for not...for not...the list goes on, whatever it was that THEY would do.

My advice to you is to take your time, read all you can from reputable sources, talk to medical professionals you trust (as many or as few as feel right to you), and then go with what your gut and your body is telling you. IMO, if you do otherwise, you'll always be questioning your decision(s).

    Conventional treatment combined with.....
Healing affirmations, healing visualizations and work on myself and from others receiving reiki energy will all be used in my healing. I made a trip to Borders and got Louise Hay's book You Can Heal Your Body and it lists the disease, probable cause and positive affirmation to use for healing.

Thanks to all for the input and it is my body and my decision!!

    Really Vickie
Until they are breast cancer warriors themselves, they have no voice in this battle. How ready would they be themselves to forego chemo .....really? There is nothing wrong with healing and caring for your body once you have finished your treatment, but why either or? What's wrong with doing everything you can to fight the beast? We all are looking at the right diet, exercise, weight loss, to prevent recurrence.
