Yep, agree, totally...Aortus said:Always knew you were a class act
I still miss Freddie more than Frank Zappa, but just barely.
So happens I bought two Zappa karaoke MP3s online just yesterday: my favorite, "Broken Hearts Are For A55holes" (which I used to sing a capella with my little sister back in the day) and "Bobby Brown."
Haven't sung them for Moopy just yet...
Miss Freddie slightly more than Frank. Saw Dweezil Zappa's band, Zappa Plays Zappa, last summer. Talk about a trip back through time.
By the way - our very first date, husband and I, a Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention concert. November 1974. They played at some local community college out in the 'burbs (don't remember which one, there are so many) - in the GYMNASIUM! No chairs. Sat on the floor, which were covered with athletic mats. Absolutely true.
Yep, saw him/them, too. Every time they were here. Yep, often two nights in a row. Sigh. Crazy days. So much fun.
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Rads Stink. I love, love it. I smell hit number 2. And--you already have a cool name!
By the way, good to see you. I was beginning to be concerned since we hadn't heard from our Wisconsin friend.
This should be the 100th post for this thread. lol I think we broke a record!
And, what is the name of the band? The RAD B'S? RAD for radiation and B's for b o o b s?
ok, thanks!

I really like that and howMoopy23 said:Queen Tribute
We ought to have a Freddie/Queen tribute somewhere in the band performance. Maybe at the end? Instead of We Are the Champions, sing "We are the Survivors....what do y'all think?
I really like that and how will I ever have another mammogram without the song Under Pressure going through my head. It can be one of our theme songs. You know for early detection.

Moopy,
I can't remember if I already posted this, go figure. I can't seem to remember much. Anyway, I know your arm hurts during rad treatment. My right arm does too and then starts tingling down my back. THe techs are so nice and they now put this small padding, I think they call a pillow case, under my wrist and arm where it sits in those holders, whatever thay are called, can't think of the word of course. It really does help because it moves my arm slightly so the tingling doesn't happen. Maybe it would help you. I am not sure the cause of your pain so I thought I would share what helps me. Good luck with the rest of your rads. I can't wait to be done myself.

great song you wrote-I love it!! And I like Queen too-always catchy songs!0 -

You, too? No cassettes tapes nor 8-tracks for me. (My parents owned an 8-track player, I never did.)
All VINYL - now, lots on CD; but, not all (regrettably). Do have the CD box set "The Queen Collection" - includes a "bonus track":
"Thank God It's CHRISTMAS" (for real! not kidding!)
I cried when Freddie passed - the first time, ever, for any sort of "celebrity"... Then again, for Frank Zappa. Just those two. So, when I read the last sentence in your post above - my heart skipped a beat. Saw Queen live every time they played here; if two nights, often went both.
Favorite albums: all. Can't choose. Forgive "Jazz"...
Other songs for Moopy Mohawk's band to "cover":
We Will Rock You
Now I'm Here
Save Me
Don't Stop Me Now
I Want To Break Free
UNDER PRESSURE (*)
I'm Going Slightly Mad
I Want It All ("and I want it NOW!")
The Miracle
Keep Yourself Alive
OK, I'll stop...
Kind regards, Susan
Fanatical Queen Fan Who Misses Freddie Mercury
(*) David Bowie, another one... Yep, I was a glam rocker, back in the day...
how bout Crazy Little Thing Called Love? I loved that song, have heard others sing it since then, and still like Queen's the best!0 -
Whatever happened to Leon Russell?chenheart said:I am willing to write AND
I am willing to write AND sing! I have never met a Karaoke bar I didn't like! LOL Once, when I visited inlaws in a tiny town in Idaho, the family had actually reserved a big table at the local bar for me, as they had hired a Karaoke DJ! It was so hilarious!I made my sister in law and cousins sing with me ( they were DRAGGED kicking and screaming, but a pitcher or 2 of beer helped the bravado) I can't remember who came up with the name, but someone called us "Chen and the Cherry-okies"...as in they were karaoke virgins! LOL
I actually sang in a casino in Lake Tahoe when I was there for the 4th of July...I was in a ballad kinda mood and sang The Carpenters "SuperStar" written by Leon Russell. And people got up and danced, thank you very much!! Ok, they were drunken gamblers, but they danced! LOL
So I am sooo in!!! Let the games begin!!!
Hugs,
Claudia
Flash from the past! And what town would that be? Weiser? Midvale? Surely not Cambridge! Thanks Claudia. Lynn0 -

First Leon Russell (from Claudia)....then , Frank Zappa - Saw Mothers of Invention in concert. An old fave. Thanks for the memories, Joe.
My kids "love... love... luh-uh-uh-uv" (as the Beatles sang) music from the 60's and 70's which just makes me giggle. When I was their age I totally rejected my parents and their music. They are such a different generation. My daughter says, "Mom, I'm jealous; I should have grown up in the 60's!" Maybe it's because I was a late bloomer and didn't have my first child until I was 39. I am old enough to be my youngest's grandma!
Thanks for the memories, Joe. xoxoxo Lynn0 -

So sorry, my friend. I completely missed your post--as well as you while you were on vacation.
Backup singer would be great. Lynn and Pammy and you can also be featured in some songs, you know, like Diana Ross and the Supremes.
What's your rocker babe name going to be? Also, you do have to have some hair thing going.
This is looking like we're going to need a hair stylist/colorist.
I'm going for the mullet look(even though in reality my hair isn't long enough for it yet.Keep getting it cut short-like it that way!)With way too much hairspray frizzed out bangs! Can't think of a name yet though-what do you think?
Bet you are glad to have a break away from rads this weekend!0 -
I know!Christmas Girl said:Hmmm... Mind is racing now...
Rethinking my choice of color for hair streak(s). Good one: red in honor of MJ (besides, I'm also Chicago Girl). Maybe bright yellow: Lance Armstrong/Livestrong Foundation, the ultimate cancer survivor hero.
Maybe purple: YOUR favorite color! Cat's, too, by the way. (Hey, Cat - we need you and your 4 tats, for street cred!)
Definitely need some guitarists. C'mon, ladies - step up!
Kind regards, Xmas Girl
P.S.: Don't forget Jackie on keyboards. She chose pink hair streaks - Tasha, turquoise (of course).
Where is Cat at here? She would be perfect for the band I think! And it would be nice to have her talent for lyrics!!0 -

Inexpensive, Stylish, Washable and Different!
Buy a pair of old fashioned mens' Y Fronts. Turn them upside down and cut a large 'V' in the gusset. This becomes the neck, the legholes are to put your arms through!
Really nice crop-top!
I wonder why nobody else has thought of this....? Mmmmmm?

"across the pond"(as my air force hubby puts it)always seem to have better words for things than we have! Never heard of YFronts before-we call them briefs or whitey tighteys.
Anyways, good idea,Tash. Will have to try that sometime if my shoulders and arms can just fit through the leg openings!!0 -
