Finally got surgery date

We finally set a surgery date for my father next Wednesday at Cedars Sinai with the chief of Head and Neck surgery; however, even though we're happy that we finally got a date to get the tumor removed, the surgeon clearly warned us that he knows that the tumor will come back but doesn't know how long it will take (anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months maybe) and he stated that once it does come back, there will be nothing we can do.
Is there any advice you guys have for post-surgery diet? For instance, any vitamins, nutrients, etc. we can feed my father to help build his immune a bit and prolong the return of the tumor? The reason why I ask is because I know that cancer thrives of unhealthy cells and I wondered if we can put him on a good nutritious diet (through the feed tube only-liquids), we can hopefully have a better outcome than the one the doctor put out for us.
Also, I've been doing a lot of reading and have come across many articles online referring to the apricot seed/kernel, amygdalin, leatrile, vitamin b17, etc. People have posted success stories but stress how hard it is to get your hands on these items for the FDA and Pharmaceutical companies worked together to put a ban stating that it is "too toxic" for the body but they have seen great results against tumor growth and cell formation. Now, I'm not gullible to believe what everyone has to say online but this kind of injects a some sense of hope in us; if I know these things would help then I will try my best to get my hands on them.
Any feedback regarding this will be appreciated and I thank you all in advance.
Best regards,

diet
Chris:
It sounds like dad has the Top Dog at a well-respected institution doing his surgery. That is great news!
As for the nutrition, I would strongly suggest that dad be provided a professional nutritionist, who will understand the dynamics of his age, weight, treatment, and so forth, and can give him the best possible advice about how to maintain or get back to his fighting weight, if you will.
Others will perhaps endorse some of the stuff you mention. I know there is evidence that some derivatives of foods do seem to have a positive effect on cancers.
I am not knowledgeable enough to suggest any of them and tend, in my cynical way, to disregard them, perhaps to my own detriment. I will admit, however, that I have a gallon of green tea in my fridge.
(I haven't taken even the first sip from it, such is my belief, but I AM the one who bought it on a whim, and I AM the one, it is now clear, who will have to drink it.)
In the meantime, Chris, I applaud your hope and your concern and your search. At the same time, I advise you not to be taken in by false hope, by false claims. You seem to be aware, based on your post, that there are scammers out there. At the same time, you seem to be grabbing at straws, which I understand.
Whatever you decide to do, be sure you let dad's docs know beforehand (I don't buy into the conspiracy theories about cancer, by the way. Doctors' loved ones get cancer too, as do doctors. As do researchers.).
Good luck to dad!
Take care,
Joe0
