Great to read that you areAortus said:The funniest part
The originator of the "punk rocker" idea was Dr. Taylor herself. She is a very soft-spoken, low key person. Not "just" a radiation oncologist, but a professor of radiation oncology at Washington University Medical School. A very, very kindly woman... but very, very serious too.
So it cracked us both up all the more when Dr. Taylor noted in passing last week that Moopy's spiky black hair made her look like a punk rocker. Moopster would have to be the least punky person I know, with Dr. Taylor right after her. We laughed like crazy people all the way home.
Great to read that you are halfway done Moopy!
And, now that you are a punker? lol
Hang in there, soon you will be done!

More about Moopy Mohawk's band...Moopy23 said:Thanks Steff, Jan, Aurora, Pammy,
Thanks Steff,Jan, Aurora,Pammy and Christmas Girl. What a nice lift you all give me here at the half-way point, with the end not in sight yet.
Pammy, backup singer you will be. How about special appearances sometimes as lead? Keep in mind, since you will not be sporting the spiky look (too bad for you), you will need to do something. How do you feel about purple or burgundy hair, or some other not-found-in-nature- hair color? You look petite, so you can wear spiky heels. I'm having trouble with a rock star name, though. Kiss is already taken.
Susan, you are awesome. I'm honored to have your skills and talents as promotion manager. (By the way, seriously I would like to know more about your work. Didn't you say you worked for Hallmark? Don't know much about promotional work and would enjoy learning.) As for Business Manager, Aortus is perfect: first because he does not practice retail therapy, as you cleverly noted, and also because I always know where his wallet is. No grapes of wrath tours for us!
Names, hmmmm, maybe one of the last two. It's a group effort, after all. I don't want to end up being a stage hog. Even if I am currently greased up like a pig.
I bet Cat would write some original songs for us, too.
Thanks for the fun and encouraging messages,
love, Moopy
Oooh, we've added two back-up singers: Pammy & Lynn. With Lynn doing double duty as Archivist - great idea, Lynn!
Songwriters - yeah, Cat. Maybe Claudia, too, if she's willing. Gotta get Cat involved somehow - she's got FOUR tattoos! Perfect! Cat could also be the Photographer - c'mon, Cat! Step up!
A travel expert could be Tour Manager. And a self-professed fashion diva could be in charge of Costumes, Hair & Makeup.
Need musicians. TJ Tantrum on drums, so far... Anybody play guitar? Keyboards? Anything other instruments?
More names to consider - Moopy Mohawk gets to choose:
Princess Warriors
Journeywomen
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Hi MoopyJeanne D said:In the band?
I am in Susan, but, not sure what I can do in the band
I just caught up with this thread. Wonderful that you have done 17 already. You will soon be back home and back to normal. Take it easy.0 -
Yeah, they're cheap...Aortus said:Aquaphor
Everybody at Barnes-Jewish/Siteman Cancer Center is absolutely wonderful, but they are so freeking cheap with the skin goop. First it was Walgreens aloe vera, and now we have to buy aloe vera ourselves. They do give Moopster these farty little tubes of Aquaphor whenever she asks, but we both get tired of squeezing it out like toothpaste. That stuff is thick! So tonight we bit the bullet and got the industrial size drum of Aquaphor. Muuuuch easier to use even if we did have to pay for it ourselves.
Sheesh. At my rad onc center, they had baskets of the stuff on all the tables in the reception/waiting area. Another huge basket on the registration desk. So, didn't even have to ask for it - just grabbed by the handfuls and shoved into my purse/coat pockets. All forms, too: lotion, creme, gel.
I've seen those drums/jars of Aquaphor in the stores: "industrial size" - indeed.
Kind regards, Susan
P.S.: Your purchase last night does NOT qualify as Retail Therapy, by the way...0 -
Halfway and Rockin'Noel said:A ROCKER BABE!
OMG Moopy a rock star? Dare we even speak to her? Are we allowed to? LOL
So good to see you posting Moopy. And halfway there! About this time, you will be getting tired of them, but, keep plugging away. And, know that you will finish! And, you will be better and healthier for it!
Love, Noel
I have a whole new respect for you all who have completed radiation treatments. I'll be doing 29, can't imagine completing 30+, especially looking as beautiful as you did, Jeanne, on your last treatment day.
I like Noel's "Rocker Babe." How about the BC Rocker Babes? or C.S.N. Rocker Babes? Isn't it supposed to be cool to use initials? Lynn, appreciate your archivist skills and backup singing. You and Pammy aren't going to snooze back there, are you?
My gratitude, always, sisters, for your support and humor.0 -

Doesn't matter - take your pick. Moopy Mohawk's band is "virtual" via cyberspace! See my recent post above...
How 'bout: Costumes, Hair & Makeup for you? :-)
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Jeanne, girl bands need more than one lead singer. You'd be great. How about it?
Keep in mind, you need a stage name and a rocker hairstyle, at least on stage. What will they be?0 -

I'm likin' those band names, Moopy Mohawk! As I stated above - it's your band, YOU get to pick the name! :-)
Kind regards, Susan
P.S.: Hang in there, friend. The halfway point can be the most difficult of all, a great big hump to get over.0 -

Dr. Taylor sounds a whole lot like my med onc, both professionally and personality-wise (thank you, Lord, for his care). Since she started this whole thing, let's get her involved with the band. Honorary Group Physician?
How nice to know that you both enjoyed a hearty laugh over her comment about Moopster's current hair "style"! :-)

Hope your visit with your DR. is all good. I know how tiring radiation can be and You just rest all you can. I also am still very tired, but the burns suprisingly are healing very fast. I hope you have no burning at all dear.
As for hair..punk rocker sounds cool, mine was a porkepine head but now it is starting to fill in and get thicker...kind of like GI Jane, but I don't quite pull it off as well as Demi..Oh well, it is hair and i am glad to have it. I haven't worn a wig in about 6 weeks just my ball-caps. I just can't wait untill it grows more so i can color it. It is coming back gray, and no i won't grow old gracefully! LOL!
Not to much longer left my friend and before you know it you will be back home living happily ever after with your prince charming.
Lotsa love, Jackie
You're in, GI Jackie, whether you want to be or not!
What instrument do you play or think you know how to play? The only instruments taken are drums (TJ) and piano accordion (Tasha). Respond soon, and Moopy (Susan and I are more minions than we are managers) might let you wear a uniform on stage!0 -

Nothing like laughter, sounds like Dr. Taylor is one smart cookie. It put a smile on my face to imagine you two laughing all the home! Hugs to both of you!

First you have to "Take off thee bra and thap it to thy chest"(Best Yorkshire accent). The band traditionally has an accordionist who cannot read music and they play until the accordionist gets way too drunk and falls off his/her stool!
Hey I qualify! lol
