"Wiggin Out"

Hi All,
I just washed one of my wigs for the first time. I've been holding off because I don't wear it often but it was due. I followed the directions on the wig shampoo bottle and did the sink swishing, towel blot, hang dry but as I look at it, it's pretty scary looking. I'm not sure this little gal is ever going to look the same.

Does anyone have any experience with this, will it go back to normal when it's dry? And, BTW, how long does a synthetic wig take to dry?

TIA,
KC

    not sure
I am not sure KC, I always took my wigs to the wig saloon to be washed. I think I would call a wig saloon or perhaps a regular saloon and see if they can help you.

    Good Luck,

    WIGGIN
Is it human hair or synthetic? Mine is an awesome synthetic.......I wash it like you do......swish it in the wig shampoo, rinse in COOL water then I roll it in a towel to remove the excess water and then I just lay it on a towel on top of my wig stand to dry......it dries over night.......I then SHAKE it, put it on and then just style it with my fingers..........and away I go!

    I agree
with MAJW. I'd swish mine in warm water with a little shampoo, roll it in a towel, sit it on top of the glass vase (no wig stand here) and when it was almost dry, start styling with my fingers. By the next morning, it was ready to go and a lot perkier than before I washed it. Good luck!

I bought my wig from a
I bought my wig from a beautician who told me to swish it in the shampoo and then rinse and hang it on a door knob. She also sold me some kind of spray and told me to spray it and run my fingers through it. I have only worn it twice so I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping it works like that!! She assured me it was very easy to take care of.

    Thank You
Thank you all for your responses. I'm pleased to report, I've just fluffed and, as promised, it looks ready to go. Wigs really are easier than real hair. My hubby is sold. He is trying to convince me that staying bald would have some benefits (he just doesn't like to wait ;-)

I'm with your hubby, go bald, it is a striking look on most of us that I have seen on these boards, and it is very freeing. When I read your post that you just fluffed, it reminded me of my niece when she was about 5, she would say "I fluffed" when she farted, and that was my first thought reading your post. he he. Glad your wig situation is cleared, but, it's summer! Be free!
