home from vacation and having CT/PET this Thursday
I jusst returned home from vacation. We had a busy, but very good time! Now for the unpacking and laundry...
This is such an active board that I missed so much in the week and a half I've not been checking in- wow! I've skimmed over a few of your posts, but haven't commented on any yet.
I felt pretty good on my vacation. I had very little issues with Xeloda side effects, thank goodness, except for that I had a major issue with the hand/foot syndrome- just in my feet though. I was walking on water blisters that turned into bloody blisters for six days of walking the mall in Wash DC, Philadelphia, two days of walking downtown Manhatten, and a day at Six Flags in NJ. I hobbled along and tried not to complain for the sake of my family. I really wanted to walk and see everything, so I suffered through it. Amazingly, the blisters healed up in a hurry within two days after stopping the Xeloda this past Monday p.m., so I was glad for that.
We lucked out with GREAT weather each day of our trip! Being from So. California, I'm not used to humidity and was really dreading hot humid weather. Well, things steamed up here at home within a couple of days after we left apparently, but we enjoyed the "unseasonably cool" weather on the east coast. We only experienced rain, thunder/lightning one time for about two hours one evening (which was a fun novelty for my kids to experience). Our days in NY City were beautiful clear skies with temps in the upper 70's or low 80's. Absolutely wonderful! Now here at home today is very hot- 94 at the moment, and our satellite thermometer showed yesterday's high was 99- ugh! Half our lawn is dead even though I had the sprinkler timer on 5 days/week. We're having a drought and water rationing is in effect. We're only supposed to water 3 days/wk for 10 min. per sprinkler station. Here, I disobeyed the rules and had it on twice that and everything is still all crunchy. Bummer! Oh well, at least we had the great weather on our trip!
I have a CT/PET scan scheduled for this Thursday, July 23rd. I am hoping, of course, for good results- either "all clear" or at least that nothing has gotten any worse. My PET on April 2nd showed nothing, but the CT two weeks prior to that still showed numerous nodules in my lungs. I have my new oncologist now & I have an appt. w/ him next week Tuesday. I think I'll still go to the hospital records room and get my results before seeing him, as I've done each time in the past year or so.
Well, blessings to you all & I'll start checking in with more regularity again probably tomorrow after I get the laundry done, suitcases put away, etc.
Hugs,
Lisa

Wonderful vacation
Lisa
So glad that you had a wonderful much needed vacation with your family. The weather has been unseasonably cool here in the East. Glad it was comfortable for you.
We too have just returned from vacation in the Outer Banks. We have been going with 3 other families for about 8 years. We couldn't go last year because of chemo. We went in 2007 but that was when I started with my pain and didn't enjoy much of it. It was so good to go back! I am thankful that I am still here.
I will be praying for you to hear wonderful news from your scan on Thursday. Keep us posted.
Smiles,

Welcome home, Lisa!
So glad to see you're back, and to hear you had a great time! I just can't believe how you do it! I'm out of treatment a year and that much walking would've KILLED me!! Yes, it's been hot and humid here. An absolute nightmare. The swamp coolers we use are basically useless.
Well, it will be nice to see you posting again! I've missed you!
Hugs,

Welcome Back Home
Glad that you had a great time, and safe one too. It sounds like you were very busy, but sorry to hear about your feet. That had to be so sore to walk on and you were such a brave person to just keep going.
Its been really cool here in MI but we have had little rain. Your yard will green up when it gets more water. We just don't worry about it here because our yard is big and it would cost too much.
Glad to have you back. Don't overdo trying to get everything done at once. It will be there tomorrow

sounds like you had a great time; remember my trip to D.C.
a couple years ago, i walked all over too and got blisters
in just about every shoe i brought with me, was miserable
but i enjoyed the trip.
Good luck on the scans, just going thru mine, and they
found a couple of new things but got my CEA and it is normal.
I could not stand the waiting so started gathering my own
reports and information and my anxiety dropped like a rock.
Seems like every set of scans they mention something else
they found and none seem to be of serious nature but you
sure do start worrying.

Hey Lisa!
Welcome back!
Hey Lisa!
Welcome back! I'm glad you had a good trip, but I wish I would have known you were going to be in downtown DC. You probably walked right past my office! I work about 3 blocks from the mall and I would have loved to have met you in person! Oh well...maybe next time! I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation and I wish you the best for your scans on thursday! My PET is scheduled for Friday and onc visit on the following wednesday, so hopefully we will both have good news to report next week. Be blessed, my friend!
