surgery update
The surgery went really well. Hernia repair at the old colostomy site. Some very strange things though that ended up making me feel more normal and lesser cancer patient.
No port anymore, had to use my hand for a vein and dang tordahl BURNS (never knew that with the port).
Hardly saw my colorectal surgeon, I guess she only hangs around the tough cases
Almost no manipulation of the colon, so got a soft diet on day #2.
Almost no gut pain, but had a horrid migrain after surgery.
On a surgical unit (vs colorectal) so had roommates with appendicitis!!
I could tell people I was in for a hernia repair and cancer never had to be mentioned.
I was a normal patient with a hernia issue. And looking back on it I am so glad!!
Thank- you all so much for your good vibes and prayers. Craig your post and prayer brought tears to my eyes!

Hi, Pattee
Seeing your reply
Hi, Pattee
Seeing your reply this morning brought them to my eyes as well. I'm so glad you got to read the prayer post and enjoyed it.
I was thinking about you and Donna that morning and it just came to me as I wrote it. I was merely God's instrument that morning.
That post was one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced in my life. All of the wonderful prayers that were said in post replys was truly a magical experience.
I'm so happy things went well for you. All the best - get well soon. Always nice talking to you.

It was done on Wed morning, back home Friday afternoon. I would say the recovery has been NOTHING compared to cancer surgery. Came home with a drain bag on and a hernia belt. Go back on Monday to have drain bag taken off. Hardly was on pain pills in the hospital, absolutely nothing since I got home. Some swelling, some tenderness, and can't lift anything more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks.0 -
Congratulations!
I'm so happy everything went well! Funny thing about that surgical floor! I had roommates for my takedown surgery. I was there for five days, so i had just as many roommates. Unfortunately, cancer did come up with mine. Why would a forty year old need an ostomy? It was very difficult having to share a bathroom. I needed to be in it all the time. Other than that, my roommates were all very interesting. I stayed up all night talking to one of them about life, and everything else! Then we both passed out on our pain meds.
Now maybe you will not have anymore problems? I so hope so! I can't imagine anything worse than damn bathroom problems!
Many hugs,

Good news!
Great news that surgery went well! Hope you get home and get a shot at 'normal' life. Not that I have a clue as to what normal might be!
Good fortune and better health...
Prayers and hugs
