    Following Hernia Surgery
lion1: I'm anxious to hear what's happening as a result of your new medications.

For reference, I am over six years out from open prostate surgery, PSA remains at <.01 and moderate incontinence continues. It's now been eight weeks since my hernia surgery and I still have pains at times. I certainly am not ready yet to do any heavy physical labor. However, there has been a positive aspect to the surgery aftermath. During the recovery period I stopped doing my 5 - 6 days per week treadmill fast-walk averaging 4+ miles per day. I think that is what reduced my Depends pad usage from about 20 per week to about 10 -- some days only one. Or did the hernia surgery tighten up the stomach muscles (per the surgeon) positively affecting the drippage? I'll find out when I start the treadmill again soon. I don't want to catch hell from my GP for stopping the treadmill because he says it reduced my blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol.

Recently I attempted Kegels again and immediately remembered why I stopped doing them several years ago. After several sets of 30 kegels per day, the drippage actually increases. I am wondering if others have experienced this. When I told my urologist this he seemed skeptical. But, it has occurred time after time. I just don't know what's going on. I still think the AMS AdVance is going to be the answer. Are you still on that track? I'm hoping you have had positive results from the new medications. tpelle

    Status
    Tpelle,

Glad to hear your doing well and moving forward. The meds are not helping really at all. I have to report my status to Dr J on Wednesday. This is what's next--the elctro stimulation(something like that) and then the Advance Sling.

I will tell you this. As I go through each of these stages I believe that ultimately the Sling will help me significantly. It's just my Gut-Feel. I am just about tired of the leaking.

I'll write you when Dr J. answers my email next week.

    ADVANCE SLING RECIPIENTS
    To All:

Anyone who has had the Advance Sling in the last 18 months---please respond to this post with your experiences, results, and quality of Life. The time is approaching for me soon and this is the direction I am headed. Appreciate all your comments. I know since this is a new procedure unlike the Invance Sling--I MAY NOT GET A LOT OF RESPONSES.

    Thanks,

    Too Early For Me
As I am only 3 months post surgery, I have a bit more time to recover. I am not looking forward to more surgery or other intervention.
I will keep you in my prayers and watch the postings as well.
