friend thingy

I have tried, and tried, and added friends but still can not get the friend thingy next to my name. Please treat me as a real dummy and give details from start to finish.

    Friend thing
    Your friend thing will not appear next to your name because you can not add yourself as a friend. I will add you as a friend and then you add me and then you wil see that the green plus sign changes to a brown minus sign.

    Maybe you need to sign out and then back in again.
    Sometimes that is the only way things update.
