HAS ANYONE HAD A CT SCAN GUIDED NEEDLE BIOPSY

JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD A CT SCAN GUIDED NEEDLE BIOPSY I HAVE ONE SCHEDULED FOR JULY 27TH AND I AM TERRIFIED.

    Needle Biopsy
    I recently had a needle biopsy using a CT Scan and I was quite nervous about it too. I know it's a scary time for you on many levels but this biopsy isn't bad. I was awake during the prodecure but I felt little to no pain at all. They kept me at the hospital for a few hours to montior my lung and make sure it didn't collapse then I went home. They told me a collapse is rare but of course they must be cautious and monitor you to be on the safe side.

    They tried
    They tried to give me a needle biopsy, but a rib was in the way, and despite their numerous efforts to position me in such a way that the needle would get in there and hit the target (it was very small, approx. 4 mm), they couldn't do it. So I had to go to the hospital where they operated and cut out the node among a bit of other tissue.

    That was not painful either, since I was out, but, given the choices, be hopeful that the needle biopsy will work.

    Don't worry
    I had a CT guided needle biopsy, and although I suffered a collapsed lung, it was worth knowing for sure the type of cancer that is there. The risks are miniumal, but they were able to find out what kind and what to do for it. Altough I have cancer in both lungs and have both small and non-small cell, they have been able to reduce one lungs problem some and give me more time.Have a positive attitude and releaize that the out come is to help them treat your cancer.     My husband had one in June
    My husband had one in June and it went very well. It was over before he knew they had begun.
    Was kept awhile afterwards to make sure lung did not collapse. He did cough up a small amount of blood the next day but they told us to expect that. Just wore a small bandaid for 24 hours.

    A Nurse Practioner talked to us before the procedure and related everything that would be done. There were no surprises. Good luck and God bless.
