Alas, we're not having any visitors up here this weekend. Sad, because we had such a blast with Moopy's big sister Jackie over the Fourth and another great time with her dad and stepmother last weekend. Guess we'll just loaf.
We are taking the three pups to the vet Saturday to get their regular "expressos." If you don't know what that means, believe me, you don't want to. Sunday, we might get one-day Metrolink passes and see St. Louis via light rail. If we're finished loafing: we are very serious loafers in this family.
Ok, I do not have dogs so I'm just imagining what this could be. I'm guessing this is not where you take them to an all-dog coffee shop? Well, I hope it goes well whatever it is.
You should definitely see St. Louis by light rail. Maybe take in a museum and a nice dinner followed by a nightcap and dessert. I just love a well-made cocktail. Have a great time, just the two of you.

My mother (who is not very supportive) has finally "fit me into her busy schedule" and is coming down from NY state, with my stepdad (whom I love), to visit for the weekend. My wonderful best friend and sister I never had, made bbq and hash, so we had something for lunch on Sat when they arrive. My son, who is 19, is planning to make cookies tonight because he just adores his Grama and Grandpa. I just had chemo Thursday so if she gets on my nerves I'll just "need a nap" and escape to the bedroom, where I will keep my laptop.
I do plan to do my weekly "meet for breakfast" on Saturday with my girlfriend and co-worker at Huddle House. We usually sit for 3-4 hours, talking/complaining about work, sipping coffee, now she smokes (I quit when I got my diagnosis in Mar 09), we chat with the waitresses and other customers we know and just enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
My husband is "working" Rebelfest for his motorcycle club, the Carolina Rebels, on Saturday when they are sponsering a bike bikini wash and a big band playing at a local club. I will probably get my parents to stop by for a bit to say hi to him when we go out and the sun is going down a bit (less hot). My husband is so sweet...he tells me that he doesn't care about the girls in bikinis, he would rather see me out there in one (I'm a size 18, 48 years old, one boob and bald from the chemo)....he says I would still be the sexiest woman out there!! I just love him so much...he's been my best support through all of this!!
Not sure what we're going to do on Sunday but we'll figure something out. We will probably take my parents out to dinner. I don't do much cooking anymore. By the time I'm done I don't much feel like eating it. I told my son to take them to breakfast or lunch with his girlfriend but don't know if that will happen.
Then they leave on Monday morning when my husband and I go back to work. I can think of more fun ways to spend a weekend. :-)

Your husband does sound very sweet, Jeny. I hope your visit with your parents is nice and not stressful. Excusing yourself for a nap sounds like a great way to deflect your mom if it gets to be too much. You need to focus on yourself and your health now. Just try to enjoy them and don't let them get to you.

I hope that your mother's visit does go better than you expect. Treatment gives you an obvious and valid reason to escape to your room and rest and limit hostessing activities. Eating out is good.
What a wonderful husband you have, your very own Rebel. (Being from the South, I applaud that. My beloved husband was born a Yankee, but we all love him dearly. My dad hasn't tried to shoot him even once.)0 -

Along with that loafing, there is retail therapy coming this weekend. My excuse is that it is unseasonably cold, and I brought only the lightest summery stuff. And there are sales! Also, I may not be able to wait much longer to see the new Harry Potter movie.
Like you, Mimi, I'm waiting for the boxed set. I've read all the books at least once and may start over after this movie. By the way, if you run out of things to buy with your AE "present" card (geez), just come on down. I can help.
Wishing all a pleasant and safe weekend.0 -
free night on the town
wow, very nice. Depending on where you live, I have always enjoyed dinner and a play. Especially a Sunday matinee. Of course, Saturday nights are always nice, also.
I wish you a wonderful night on the town with your huuby.
Me: non-hodgkins lymphoma just past my second of 6 chemo treatments.
I believe the best is yet to come for all of us. (no matter what it all brings)...

Well ... I was supposed to go to a play with some girlfriends Saturday night and a baby shower Sunday ... but I think Tasha's plans sound like more fun ... so I'm off to Tasha's ... and can't wait to see the movie "50 Daft Sods Walking" ... because it just has to be a comedy. Hummmmmm ..... surely that movie isn't about all of us ... is it? If so ... I'm sure the sequel must be a mystery ... like "Chemo brain stikes again ... where are my keys and who am I?"
hugs.

wow
sounds like everyone has some nice (and some stressful) things planned for this weekend. I am alone again, Mom went home, so I have some alone time to clean the house and get it ready for my niece and her husband to come by in 2 weeks. We are going to see Paul McCartney at FedEx Field (Redskins)which is about a half hour from me. I plan to do some deck work and house work and a lot of resting. Maybe go out to dinner with a good friend of mine, also a recent mastectomy survivor.

hmmm, let's see.....
This weekend, I have decided on some retail therapy (I had to explain to hubby what this meant!!). So, Saturday, I am heading to Tanger Outlets for 4 or 5 hours, then out to a Japanese Steak House for dinner. They have some really good Tera Masu (sp?) for desert. Then Sunday I'm going to play dress-up in my new clothes. Maybe organize my closets and drawers (need to make room for the new!)
Mimi....I would be stuck to decide what to do with the gift card. There are so many things on my wish list that I would just end up going...eeny, meeny, miney, moe!!
Jeanne....I am in the same delema for painting a room. My husband pointed out that he is in the office 90% more than me (I mostly use my laptop) that he should pick out the color. I agreed. ARGGGG!!! He picked "white"!!!!
When I go shopping, I want to pick out some tops that you can't tell you are not wearing a bra incase I get too uncomfortable form rads and have to go this route. Any suggestions?? Pammy0 -
